Piano and theory lessons available from music tutor with 10 years experience teaching, catering for every age and ability. I was brought up with music in the house 24/7. My Mum was a piano teacher so every evening after school the house erupted with the sound of exam pieces and beginners tutor books. Of course my Mum had me learning piano from a young age and when it got that I wouldn't practice the dreaded scales for her I went to Judith (Robertson) Anderson where I progressed to pass my grade 7 with merit. From a young age I loved working with children, being creative with them and seeing them succeed. I organised the churches children's day choirs and carol services with my Mum and then when I was 17 we decided that I should do some teaching on a Saturday morning. I continued this through Uni years while I studied for a Music degree at Queens University Belfast. Brass banding is also a love of mine. I started playing the trumpet when I was 9, I changed to playing the cornet when I was asked to join Murley Silver Band which had a great influence on my musicianship. While at Queens I also played for the University Band there and then I joined a little band while I was in England for a year. I spent a year in Dublin last year where I worked for two music schools there teaching piano, recorder and theory classes.

In my teaching I love the individuality of each child and cater to their needs and interests. I make sure that the lessons are fun and enjoyable. I use popular music alongside the exam pieces and use tutors relevant to the child's ability and interests. I use games and give ongoing theory homeworks to aid the material learnt. I have also taught children with special needs. All in all I want music learning to be a enjoyable experience for everyone!
