DanannCrafts.com is an online market place & store helping to promote and sell Irish Art and Crafts worldwide. Giving every home a piece of Irish Treasure. Danann Crafts is an online marketplace & we have recently opened Our Wee Shap in Williamt Street in Lurgan. Danann Crafts has been set up to promote and sell Irish Crafts worldwide. All our crafters live and work within the emerald isle either as a professional or amateur crafter. Our store celebrates and promotes #Local crafting talents and also hosts 3 resident crafters, with pop up gallery space & workshop space to give other crafters a chance to promote and teach their crafts in order to change peoples mindset on craft industry. Our aim is to provide every home with a piece of Ireland and help promote some of the delightful pieces of Irish treasures to the masses.
Danann Crafts is run by husband and wife team Peadar and Sinéad McMahon.For years we have admired and collected many items that have been produced locally, or sourced from local materials. The passion and love for these products can be seen throughout our home where they have taken pride of place. These items highlight the skills, craft and richness of products available in our beautiful island. This store was created to be a central hub for amateur and professional crafters alike, to promote some of Ireland’s most unique and precious bespoke pieces of craft.
Danann Crafts take its name from the Irish legend of “Tuatha Dé Danann”. The Tuatha Dé Danann were an ancient Celtic tribe that settled in Ireland. They worshiped the goddess Danu, from whom they were said to descend. The Tuatha Dé were said to bring four treasures with them to aid with the settlement of the area, from the “northern islands of the world”. These treasures were said to have mystical qualities and were very important to the Tuatha Dé. The four treasures were the Stone of Fál, the Spear of Lug, Núadu’s Sword and the Cauldron of the Dagda. Much of modern Irish crafting is inspired by these prized, rare and magical treasures. We pride ourselves on finding those one of a kind items and promoting the crafters that produce them. At Danann Crafts we are very enthusiastic about the part we have to play unearthing the best of new crafts this island has to offer.
