Description
We are award winning musical theatre society based in Lichfield City.We perform two outstanding shows per year at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre.
The present Lichfield Operatic Society began in 1942, although as long ago as 1896 a Lichfield Amateur Operatic Society, with a very successful record of productions, existed until 1912 when the loss of a suitable venue brought it to an untimely end.
The first production of the present Society was ‘Merrie England’ in 1943, since when we have performed 98 shows up to December 2003.
On 9th November 1943 the Society joined NODA.
All productions since Autumn 2003 have been performed at the LichfieldGarrick, which opened in July 2003 after two years of building work. Complete with recently refurbished raked seating, this proved to be an excellent alternative venue.
We welcome new members to either perform on stage (singing, dancing and acting) or help backstage during a production. On Monday evenings we rehearse at The Martin Heath Hall, Christ Church Lane, Lichfield from 7.30pm and principals rehearse also on Thursday evenings at Lichfield F.C., Brownsfield Park, Brownsfield Road (off Eastern Avenue) Lichfield WS13 6AY.
We have acquired a first class reputation over the years for achieving a professional standard.
We were winners of the Lichfield Garrick Friends Award and the NODA West Midlands Regional Award for Best Amateur Musical Production in 2010 for Jekyll & Hyde.

'What you talking bout Willis!?' Gary Coleman is one of the main characters in the hit musical Avenue Q, played by Aaron Morris, and is a parody of the real-life child star with the same name. After being robbed of his childhood earnings by his parents, Gary becomes the maintenance man of Avenue Q! :D Throughout the show Gary reflect on his misfortune fate, in particular in Schadenfreude, he claims to take pride in the fact others take pleasure in his misfortune and views it as a "public service". Happy Sunday Everyone! It’s time to meet some more of our talented principal cast… meet Zoe and Dan who will be playing the very naughty Bad Idea Bears! (Thank you to Hannah Clark for the amazing character illustrations!) Dan has been a member of LOS for many years and has played many principal roles on the local amateur scene including Buddy Holly in the Buddy Holly Story, Motel in Fiddler on the Roof and Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar.
