Sussex I love you but walking the gower coast path, in South Wales at seven this morning makes me wonder why I ever left Wales. The beaches the rocks and the wildness of the scenery. And one of my favourite herbs growing in a late autumn flush along the coast path. Stachys betonica or Wood betony. Known in Greek / roman medicine as a panacea for afflictions of the head. It's a nervous system herb used for headaches particularly caused by anxiety or tense shoulders and neck. Also great for dream disturbed sleep and nightmares and for deeper sleep generally. I put it in my relaxation tea blend.

herbal Alchemy aka Haskel Adamson is looking for 4 acres of land to buy in Sussex in order to start a life long ambition of creating a Herb Farm. What I'm looking for is some mixed woodland attached to a south facing pasture field, with access from a road or public track. Running water would be ideal, but ponds and a well could suffice. I would like to start growing hemp on the land with a government license and creating a 50 year medicinal herbal garden project. The 50 year garden was inspired by a friend Lambert Coles who had the most beautiful garden I've ever worked on at New Timber old rectory. As a ninety year old He could be found at the top of a 15 foot ladder pruning roses or waist deep in his pond. The most gracious man I ever met. I don't need a Georgian rectory but I do want a garden I can base my practise and teaching and business from. A herbalist without a permanent garden is like a fish out of water. So this is my intent, my dream and now at 44 it's time to make it happen. Any ideas and advice would be most welcome. Please pm me or call if you can help in any way at all. Thank you
