It’s the UK’s largest Valentines Event, and back in Leeds for the Half Term holidays will be the famous Valentines Fun Fair opening Valentines Day, Thursday 14th February until Sunday 24th of February on the Elland Road Car Parks alongside Leeds United Football Club.
Each year the event seems to bring together bigger and better rides from across Europe and whether you’re looking for a family-friendly day of rides and amusements or a thrilling night out, there is always plenty to enjoy at Europe’s first and largest Valentine fair, which having initially been held in the City Centre until 2000 is still going strong at its current home on the car parks at Elland Road adjoing Leeds Utd FC.
Amongst the array of Roller Coasters, thrill rides, family rides, Dodgems, Twists and Waltzer’s which have always been the staple diet of the Valentines Fair, there will be a fantastic new attraction this year in the form of the 2Xtreme the only one in the UK while returning is Sky Flyer one of only two in the UK which spins its riders 30 metres into the air in a suspended seat at high speed. Direct from a theme park will be the Crazy Mouse Roller Coaster which spins its cars along its winding and twisting track, one of four coasters which includes the only portable vertical lift Roller Coaster in Europe. These rides amongst the 150 attractions on offer will give thrill seekers and families an amazing experience.
Also there were plenty of rides for those who enjoy more traditional fairground rides, including the ever-popular Gallopers, Ghost Train and four Fun Houses.
The fair also offers visitors the chance to enjoy many other attractions, such as giant prize games, food and novelty stalls and the numerous side shows that are on offer, including an indoor seating area.
The fun gets underway at 5pm on Thursday 14th of February and will then be open Friday 15th from 5pm until 10.30pm, then daily from 1pm until 10.30pm through until Sunday 24th February (Except Wednesday 20th when the fair will open from 1pm – 4.30pm due to a football fixture).
Once again there will be a huge firework display lighting up the sky above the fair and this has now been arranged for Thursday 21st of February at 8.15pm and guests are advised to get to the fair early to soak up the fun.
This year’s chosen charities which the fair will be supporting are Martin House Hospice which cares for Children and Young People with progressive life limiting illnesses, and provides support to their families in a purpose built hospice in Boston Spa, Wetherby and Cash for Kids.
And if you really want to experience all the fun of the fair, pay a visit to the free model show on Saturday 23rd of February in the Leeds United Banqueting Suite from 11am until 4.00pm and see all the rides in miniature as well as a number of trade stands and refreshments.
Parking is free at the Valentines Fair; however Elland Road is well served by First Leeds Bus Services no’s 51 and 55 from Vicar Lane stand M7 outside the market.

Thousands of people are expected to experience all the sights and sounds as the country’s famous Valentines Fair returns to Leeds for its 26th Year! Leeds has certainly enjoyed a love affair since what was the first ever Valentines Fair in the UK descended on Leeds back in 1992 bringing with it rides the likes of which had never been seen before in the City filling the Headrow and what was at the time the car parks alongside Leeds Market. The event has since grown in not just stature but also popularity and moved out of the City Centre and on to the car parks of Elland Road alongside the football ground in 2000 and there it has remained ever since with the exception of one year in 2001 when it was held at the Royal Armouries. The extra room the car parks afford has however opened the fair up to bigger and better rides with the huge Spinning Wild Mouse Roller Coaster always popular and back this year while the families always enjoy the smaller roller coasters which this year includes the Big Apple Roller Coaster. Regarded as one of Europe’s biggest fun fairs over a hundred rides and attractions fill the car parks in the shadow of the famous football stadium with attractions including the Vertigo a giant ride with rotating arms reaching a height of 30 metres and a giant Observation Wheel. The thrilling Top Scan swings skywards before a stomach tingling free fall back to earth. Other rides for the thrill seekers will include the Superspin, Devil Rock, SuperBowl, Tagada and a hopefully a World first with a brand new prototype ride scheduled to come direct to Leeds from a factory in Europe. There is even a Bavarian theme pub on site for a relaxing drink as well as lots of hot food from Hamburgers and hot dogs to sticky candy floss and do-nuts. Admission is just £1, children under 1 metre and OAPs free and once inside rides are priced from £1.50 upwards with all kids rides being just £1.50 at all times with the exception of Bungees, roller coasters and the pony express while midweek over 26 large rides are just £2 until 6pm and can be sampled for just £1.50 by printing vouchers off the fairs website.
