A post to make you all giggle....😂 For all of you who think you can’t do it, for all of you that are about to hang up your boots and for all of you who look at people like me and wish you could ride like us....well here’s the truth, it happens to us all! This little horse was a sweetheart, newly broken but a little love and bang, I was on the floor. Admittedly rare, but it even happens to me! Keep going. Do your hat up a little tighter, put your stirrups up a little shorter and never, ever let go of your neck strap! If it wasn’t a challenge it wouldn’t run adrenaline through our veins And remember - Some horses teach us methods, others educate our minds 😊

****SOLD**** Its always so lovely to follow the progress of the horses I’ve sold, and even more special when i get to work with them again. Sadly after 3 years April has been outgrown, so I was asked to find her a new home. Here she is having a ball with Mandy the Shetland in her new home! I hope she brings a tonnes of smiles to very good friends of mine Julie and Abbie Kenningley 😊😊😊

*****FOR SALE***** One word to describe this little cob-Adorable! With the face of a Disney character and an adorable personality to match, he’s got it all. Tommy is a 15hh 6yr old gelding who makes everyone who meets him smile. I broke this little chap as a 4yr old and have kept in contact with his owners throughout. He has wanted for nothing, is up to date with everything and is a delight to handle. Sadly due to his owners ever growing legs he hasn’t done as much as they would have liked over the last couple of years. He is a super safe little cob to ride but he is still rather green. He is the definition of fun and loves to please. Everyday he comes out with a smile on his face and he is a fast learner. He is looking for someone who wants fun and a best friend, someone who will take him on adventures and improve his confidence and knowledge. He has a sweet little jump in him and I see him doing very well in Working Hunter classes. He is exceptionally well bred, his father being Moortown The Scoundrel, his dam Trevellion Warlock so he is also destined to go onto great things in the show ring. Thomas is a low maintenance horse to keep...he lives in or out, is barefoot and happily grazes with others. I can’t praise this little chap enough. He is looking for a home that understands young horses and is experienced in bringing on. He is not currently suitable for a novice but I am positive that with 6 months mileage that he will be billet proof. My client is looking for offers in the region of £2250 but no sensible offer will be refused due to their current circumstances. Open to any vetting and trainer. Please contact Jodie on 07939 664763 for further details. Apologies but texts will not be answered. He is located in Mawdesley, Lancs L40

LILY’S STORY CONTINUED.... What a fantastic week it has been for Lily. 4 consecutive days and not a single nap, backward thought or resistance! What a corner this mare has turned and seeing her owners confidence and smiles grow today was a pleasure 😊 I have added a video from today. 6 weeks ago she would dance at the mounting block, rear upon feeling the weight in your stirrup and resist any form of the riders aids. We have come such a long way.

Look who’s arrived 😊 I brought April from Ireland and broke her as a youngster....sadly her lovely owner is now having to part with her due to university commitments. I am delighted to have the opportunity to put my name to her again. April is a 14.2hh 8yr old mare, ideal BYRDS pony and she will be available for viewings in the next couple of weeks. Wait until you see her paces 😁

***** CHALLENGING HORSES ***** I would like to introduce Lily. Lily is a 9yr old Sports horse who I began working with 4 weeks ago. Lily was brought by her current owner as a 5yr old riding horse to predominantly have fun on with aspirations to compete. Very quickly it was clear that the mare had problems. Problems that have escalated so badly over the years that her owner had been forced to consider euthanasia as an heartbreaking option. Upon meeting lily on the ground, i was greeted by a mare that although polite, was a very strong character and a mare that felt she was top in the hierarchy. The situation that had once started as a resistance to work, a nap, had now become a full blown battle when you so much as sat on her back. This mare could rear. I mean really rear. She had learned to frighten a rider-had learned to block any control through her shoulder and run herself to a nearby building/object in order to intimidate the rider enough that they would have no option but to remove themselves from the situation by dismounting. She had been to various yards previous to myself, reputable yards, sadly with no avail. All the avenues had been investigated-teeth, back etc. Problems had been found with both her back and her teeth but these have been continuously dealt with. My work started as it often does by me thinking where do I start with this one! I decided that ground work had been exhausted over the years and was the creator of little problems so I needed to bite the bullet, get on and let her show me what I was dealing with. The first 10 seconds of the video I have uploaded shows a brief moment from Day 1. Wow. We didn’t just have a confused horse, we had a resentful, angry and unforgiving horse that was so blindsided into hatred of the rider that her only mindset was to frighten you. I think it is more than fair to call her dangerous. Day 2 was a challenge. Clearly I had made her cross the previous day. I went to catch her in the paddock-She cantered full tilt at me, teeth gritted, back legs flying. That’s where Day 2 started and Day 2 finished. I walked away. Day 3 she trotted to me and, on the ground I had a different horse already. 12 days in we were still rearing. Progressing nicely, but not enough, so a change of tactic was needed. A hack! This was either going to kill me or cure her! Together with another horse Lily hacked beautifully for an hour, went in front, behind, passed endless traffic and felt safe and more importantly happy to accommodate a rider. Once back on the yard, she immediately reverted back to the dangerous horse I had left behind an hour before. I honestly believe that day changed this horses future. Her attitude towards the hack, aka what she wanted to do, proved that the only thing wrong with Lily was her state of mind. She thrived off scaring you. If she didn’t want to do it then bang! We frightened. She doesn’t frighten me. Not because I’m not human, but because I took the time to understand her. She has an exceptional case of Spoilt Brat Syndrome! That day I rode that mare for another 45mins in the arena. She had to work through that barrier. We have never looked back. She still has her moments. She has an ‘argumentative’ 10 minutes when you first get on her but what a horse I now have. She winnies when she sees me. Her ears are forward when I mount and she has barely put a foot wrong in the last 14 days. Yesterday I took her to Church Farm, 28 days since she arrived on my yard. I have attached a video below. The first 10 seconds shows a snippet of her behaviour on Day 1, the following shows her yesterday, 28 days later. I am beyond proud of this mare and I cannot thank her owner, Jane enough for allowing me to share her story. We still have work to do, and I will continue to keep you all updated on her progress. Perhaps story’s like this will offer more opportunities to horses like Lily, and, educate more owners that sometimes the power of human beings is our minds to unravel rather than our actions to create. Some horses teach us methods, others educate our minds. If you feel you have a horse that you would like me to work with please call me, Jodie Jackson on 07939 664763.
