Little Acorns is a children's gardening club run on Mondays and Thursday10-11am. £5 per child. The Monday and Thursday workshops are designed to follow the seasons of the gardeners year.

Introducing children to gardening at an early age has many benefits. As well as learning about gardening; children develop social skills and independence as they have fun together.

Within a controlled and safe environment, children are allowed to have a go at gardening activities themselves using gardening tools, giving them a sense of ownership of the plants and vegetables they are growing.

Children's communication, social and problem solving skills are stimulated as we talk about the healthy foods they are growing.

Each week children take part in a different gardening activity. Refreshments are served, to the children and adults and we sing garden related nursery rhymes. Children take home everything they have made, sown or planted along with a fun activity sheet.

After being asked many times to run an after school activity we have decided to do just that! We are excited to tell you all about 'Little Rockers'. This is a group which will introduce children, young and old and adults too! To the wonderful new activity of 'Rocking' What is Rocking? The idea is that you paint a rock/ well pebble really and hide it for someone to find. I quote ' ...this promotes creativity, but also concepts surrounding sharing and a sense of community.' You can even join a Facebook group, write the name on the back of the rock and if you are really lucky the finder will post a picture. Little Rockers - Is open to children and adults of any age, it is an informal group. You will have 2 rocks/pebbles to decorate and a plate to carry them home. We will provide the paint, pens, stickers, aprons and inspiration. Any ability can have a go, it's all about having some fun. Everyone who paints a rock receive a cookie and a cup of squash/water. There will also be a treasure hunt around the garden centre. The cost will be £2.50 per person, there is no age limit. (This is to cover the cost of materials and staffing) If you would like to book a place please either telephone the garden centre 01565 750752, or message us on Facebook, leaving the names of the people who would like to take part and a contact telephone number. We can also take pre orders for children's lunch boxes. If this proves to be a success we will look into it being a monthly event.
