We are now taking down all our wartime displays from the noticeboards in the building. If you still need to see them, there is a paper copy and a pdf version both available to see in the #OrkneyRoom We hope they have been useful and interesting during this 100 year anniversary period. #OrkneyatWar #WW1 A complete copy will be available in Stromness Library by the end of next week.

Our friends at Highland Park Whisky have had a technical problem at the distillery so instead of producing whisky they've been out in the community volunteering on various local projects around Orkney. Today they are very kindly working out front weeding our cracks and tidying our balls ready for the autumn. Thanks very much to them for coming along and helping us out 😀

This October Orkney Library & Archive is hosting another Fun Palace and we need YOUR help! Fun Palaces are about people sharing their interests, hobbies, skills and talents with others in their community, but most of all they are about people getting together and having FUN. If you have a skill, talent or hobby that you would be willing to share with others then we would love to hear from you. It can be an art or craft activity, something scientific, a new technology, a sport or fitness activity - if you have an idea then please get in touch. Fun Palace events are open to anyone of any age and all events and activities are completely FREE so come along and get involved with something new on Saturday 5th October.

Many thanks to Lexie for her informative and entertaining talk last night. There were many questions to keep her busy and I'm sure everyone enjoyed it. We wish her well with the continuing Orkneyinga Murders series.....however many books that turns out to be.
