A Not-for-Profit Theatre Co & Registered Charity; promoting the arts via the production & performance of high quality musicals, comedies & dramas.  @thepantheonclub ...a Registered Charity producing, performing & promoting the arts, through musicals, comedies & drama, in Glasgow & Mid West of Scotland since 1926. (pantheontheatre.co.uk)

"’Tis not in mortals to command success, but we’ll do more: deserve it", was the motto was printed in the programme of Pantheon’s first production, The Quaker Girl, at the Theatre Royal, Glasgow on Monday 14th February 1927.

Born in a Glasgow coffee house in 1926, The Pantheon Club was established by 5 young men to embrace and promote the arts of theatre, singing and drama.  Now, some 90 years later, the Pantheon Club is still ‘deserving success’, having performed over 200 musicals, plays and pantomimes.

The Pantheon Club (Glasgow) Ltd is a non-profit making charitable organisation (Scottish Registered Charity SC002818) with a Club membership of over 100, and regular auditions for new talent, The Pantheon Club Glasgow will continue to be a prominent feature on the Glasgow stage for many years to come.

The Pantheon Club has seen many of its performers go on to professional careers over the years, including the fabulous Rikki Fulton and Molly Weir, and of recent times Sabrina Carter ('Wicked' and 'Oliver' on London's West End) and Andrew Keay in in the UK Tour of War Horse.

Joining Pantheon;
Pantheon depends on its members to produce high quality drama and musicals. We are always looking for fresh talent, off-stage and on, and we welcome new members throughout the year.

The Club is open to members aged 16 and over.

Membership of the Club is by Open Audition or Club Audition for performing members, or by interview for backstage members.

Fees for membership are currently:

£20 per annum
£30 per show

Please note that casting of all productions is by competitive audition. Membership of the Pantheon Club does not, per se, guarantee the right to appear in any production.

The Audition
For the audition, we ask you to prepare a song to sing, and to bring sheet music of the accompaniment with you. There will be a pianist at auditions, who will be happy to play over the song with you before you sing for the panel.

We also ask that you prepare a speech of approximately 2 minutes to perform. You are not required to learn the speech by heart, but it is probably best if you choose a speech you are very familiar with, and which you are comfortable performing. There are books of audition speeches available in the drama section of most of the larger book stores. If you need someone to read opposite you in a duologue, one of the panel will be happy to oblige.

The auditions are held before a panel of Club members (usually at least one member of the Board of Directors, and two ordinary members of the Club). The audition panel is different every time, to ensure fairness.

DRAMA AUDITIONS Prior to 'Elf The Musical' on the snowy horizon of November, we are holding closed club member auditions in October for our next again Pantheon Production, MEN SHOULD WEEP (Websters Theatre Glasgow 6-10 March 2018... we also have 'Into the Woods' at Websters in May 2018; information on that production will be coming soon). We are also very excited to announce that we have a new-to-Pantheon Artistic Director for Men Should Weep; the very talented Alice Langley. AUDITIONS for Men Should Weep will be held in late October. These initial auditions are for current club members only; however, we will go to external auditions for any specific parts that we can't cast within the club. The auditions will take the form of WORKSHOP Auditions; which will be as relaxed and fun and engaging as we can make them. To REGISTER for an audition, club members should email Dave C stating which character (and secondary character) they would be interested in auditioning for. Written in 1947, Men Should Weep is an extraordinarily moving play about life in the east end of Glasgow during the 1930s Depression. It finds in the lives of Maggie, her family and her neighbours, not only all the tragedy that appalling housing, massive unemployment and grinding poverty can produce, but also the effects of gendered roles and societal pressures, all interwoven with that rich vein of Glaswegian humour, that can be found in times of darkness and despair.
