What is the most commonly blocked chakra? Well, it's affected by shame, embarrassment and oh yes, ANGER! The liver, gall bladder and spleen can all be compromised in their effectiveness to detox our system when we hold anger. Lets work on the third chakra (Manipura) this week.

Vishudhi - focusing on self expression this week. How are we conditioned? From a young age we are conditioned to behave as others would want us to behave. We soon learn that if we behave in a certain way, some people will smile and be pleased. If we behave in a different way, some people will be cross and not so pleased. And so we learn that to be the way others want us to be is the norm. A longing or discontentment soon creeps in. Ram Dass says that this is akin to wearing someone else's suit that just doesn't fit.

Get out of your head! "Glimpses of love and joy or brief moments of deep peace are possible whenever a gap occurs in the stream of thought. For most such gaps happen rarely and only accidentally, in moments when the mind is rendered speechless, sometime triggered by great beauty or extreme physical exertion" (Eckhart Tolle) We're gonna use yoga and the breath to quiet the mind and find the peace. Exertion might come into it a little bit too😁

We will focus our asanas and pranayama practice this week is on the area of PERSONAL POWER within the body. Using physical movement and breath to flush out any blockages we have in this area. "If you could become aware of even one hundredth of the thoughts you are sending out into the future and evolve them, within a month you would know delight that exceeds all of your pictures today. Every single statement you make about yourself, to a friend or even to yourself becomes a truth. You project energy every moment. If you want a better future, speak of it, picture it, say it to others. Only you can create for yourself what you want" (Sanaya Roman)

Hi Yogis We have now finished the 5 Yamas and so for our last week of the block we will be focusing on the breath. Take control of your breathing. As we synchronise our movement with our breath, our levels of mind flutuation settles. Our breath influences our experience just as our experience influences our breath. I'll see you on the mat this week for a beautiful Prana Sequence.

Our focus this week in class will be Aparigraha. Aparigraha is non attachment which is quite different to detachment. Detachment can be cold and non engaging where as non attachment is anything but. Aparigraha brings us more present into every moment without pinning our happiness on an outcome. No need for grasping or greed, the freedom comes when we let go.
