Good morning , we were hoping to have pheasant shooting this season but unfortunately due to our transitional period and our new gamekeeper establishing himself this will not happen. However he is putting in the foundations for next season and everything is going well and according to plan . We have some beautiful birds and breeding stock that Peter has reared himself but he feels that next season Is the right time to make the shoot brilliant for all .

On 20th Aug 2017 we had a break in at Stubbs Hall. A gold shogun was stolen along with all our shotguns and rifles and ammunition. It was a targeted robbery at 3.30 am for the guns Which were in 3 gun safes locked away from view. The CID are doing a great job and progress is being made. It is with regret that we have decided not to run this year and we will not be hosting any shoots this season.

With shooting season approaching fast I think a quick update is in order. As always we run quite late in the season, end of October usually. Due to ill health and organisation problems we haven't set any dates. It came to our attention that someone has posted that we are not running at all !!! This is not the case and as soon as we have some dates I will put them on. I'm sure everyone will understand that when you have health problems it's difficult to move forward but we have a great team of people at Stubbs who are doing everything they can to make sure we have some dates.

Great day here at Stubbs Hall today. It was Kirkbournes shoot day.We pulled out all the stops for these wonderful people who have served our shoot with their beautiful dogs all season. It was our turn to work for them and make their day as enjoyable as possible. We met at 8.30 and had breakfast in the Hall and had our health and safety chat. We loaded the sloe gin and pork pies into the basket ready for elevenses. Today's guests were loaded onto the gun bus ,which I'm told is far more comfortable than the beaters trailer. And so began a wonderful day with lots of memorable moments captured by the gorgeous Caro Dell. We went up to the Hall for a three course meal and on to our final drive the Willows which is a very large and varied drive. The final bag was 140 and a woodcock from David Whitehead which made his day. All in all it was probably the best, most entertaining day of the season and we hope that you all enjoyed your day of being a gun for the day. Let's hope we see you all next season

Well we started the day with miserable weather,it was wet and gloomy but you know what it was once again a fantastic day for all of us at Stubbs Hall. The banter between the kirkbourne team and Stubbs Hall team is refreshing. The bag finished at 176 and there was plenty shooting for all. The beaters and pickers as always true professionals and the dogs worked their hearts out with some outstanding retrieves. James Padgett was the highlight of the day on Johns speedboat during the duck flight ,the ducks certainly lifted. Amy who drives the quad and game trailer has braced up more birds over the past 2 days than shes ever had to before it was 200 Friday and 176 today she has worked tirelessly throughout the season. Brooke baked 3 beautiful cakes for dessert today which im sure were enjoyed by all. Thankyou to everyone who has contributed to the shoot this season. David is not only shoot manager he is vermin control, chief organiser, accountant, advertiser etc,etc his input is vital and he has been a great asset to all our events. We have the Kirkbourne shoot day to look forward to on Tuesday before the season comes to an end.

With our last shoot of the season on the horizon I would like to thank two people for their tireless efforts 7 days a week feeding the pheasants, ducks and partridge in all weathers. They both had their own full time jobs to do as well Amy our quad driver on shoot days and James. They have both been our gamekeepers since August and without them there would have been no birds. so a big ,big thank you to both of you x

Today was superb ! great weather once again, great friends and a lovely team of guns and a finishing bag of 190 birds !. There was some excellent shooting. The Kirkbourne team did another great job for us and it was lovely to see their dogs working, improving and loving what they do. Kirkbourne dog handlers are a big family of lovely people working together and helping each other improve the training and skills of their dogs Their interaction with the gun men contributes to the lovely welcoming atmosphere that we strive for .We had nearly bagged up for dinner time with pheasant, partridge and a few duck and a goose. Dinner was typically Stubbs hall style home cooked 3 course and we hope that nobody went home hungry ! Our very generous host then insisted we went out for another drive and we finished this super day with just over 190 birds in the bag. There was plenty shooting for everyone, some high birds, testing birds and such a variety to say we are so late in the season.I hope that everyone enjoyed today as much as we ( team Stubbs Hall ) did.

A fantastic day today the weather couldnt have been better. We have had some real high pheasants and some excellent shots taken by very good guns. The bag was easily reached and the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Even the big boss passed comment today that team Kirkbourne did an exceptional job and he enjoyed seeing them work their dogs in a very professional way.Big thankyou to Darren Kirk for providing an excellent service. We had a couple of children attending today who behaved impeccably To say that Lukas the older of the two was only six years old. Dinner was enjoyed by all and we did two more drives before we finished. A big thankyou to all who took part in making today such a good one.

The weather today was perfect for us once again. We had a great group of guns who had nearly bagged up at lunchtime. There were some stunning birds going over the guns today, the game trailer was an array of colour. There are still lots of pheasants around the estate and ducks are plentiful even though we are coming to the end of the season. There were a few drives untouched today due to the guns reaching the bag quickly. Once again we were privileged to have Darren Kirk and Kirkbourne spaniels working with us doing a tremendous job as always and creating laughs along the way. These people adore their dogs ,they are passionate about the training and it is so rewarding chatting to them and watching them improve it's a lovely atmosphere. There were a few today that couldn't manage all of their dinner they were full but it was a good effort ! Nobody leaves here hungry lol. On the whole a very good day looking forward to the next.

Today was very windy, we have been spoilt with the beautiful weather on the last few shoots. So the strong wind provided us with added excitement. The first couple of drives were not producing many birds but by the third drive there was a massive improvement with 2 guns in particular producing a couple of amazing shots Lawrence and Becky. The bag was easily reached and our guns got shots at passing geese.403 shots were taken today so there were plenty birds going over the guns. On the whole a thoroughly enjoyable day managed by David and Darren very efficiently. Kirkbournes dog handlers were superb as always and an excellent job done by them, thank you so much. We had good feedback from the guns which makes the hard work worth while.
