Hand-made tropical style bespoke garden statues.
Great in your garden or a Tiki bar. I'm based in Crewe England. UK customers only I'm afraid.  Hi my names Andrew Bebbington 34 from Crewe ,Cheshire,17 years ago I started as a paint apprentice at Bentley motors , it’s a highly skilled job which I love and has allowed me to travel extensively but the main drawback is there’s no room for creativity even though I would love to spray some custom flames on a Bentley one day. So I really enjoy doing more creative things at home whether it be painting, gardening, tiki carving or recycling a cast iron bath into a garden bench ! I have always had some kind of project on the go.
I spend most of my spare time outside in my garden, I’ve always thought regarding my garden that it’s the one tiny piece of planet earth I own and can put my stamp on, so a patch of grass just wouldn’t cut it . so I’m constantly trying to create a special space me and my partner Laura ,and our friends can enjoy, I’m trying to create an exotic tiki style space to try to capture that chilled out bliss you get enjoying a few drinks at a tiki /beach bar but in a small back garden in Cheshire.
This love of the exotic led to me starting TIKI HEADZ whist building an extension and making over the garden a few years ago I had a few aerated concrete foundation blocks left over.(aerated concrete has a texture like an aero chocolate bar and looks just like pumice stone) Knowing these were suitable for outdoor use and relatively easy to work using hand tools I decided I should try and make a sculpture for the garden. So I carved my first ever tiki it was a large kind of mashup of a moai head and more traditional tiki teeth ,and for a first try I was really happy wit it and it still has pride of place in my garden 3 years or so later,

I had never carved anything before and just learnt what techniques work best ,I also learnt what techniques don’t work so well with a string of carving related injuries some of which include sticking a razor sharp chisel in to the palm of my hand less than 2 minutes after getting it out of the packaging and sawing clean through my thumb nail with a hand saw. But as I’ve carved more tiki my sticky plaster usage has slowly reduced ,I still only ever use hand tools to carve as i feel it just stays true to the tradition of people carving using simple tools that’s gone on for centuries. I also think I could loose a limb if a mixed rum and power tools !
My first few tikis I made got lots of interest from everyone who visited the house and I was asked to make some for friends .I then set up a Facebook page FACEBOOK.COM/TIKIHEADZ  to share my carvings with people and allow people to contact me easily .the page has steadily grown ever since.
I’ve found Facebook an amazing tool to reach likeminded people .as an absolute newbie to the kustom scene I contacted a few people I found on facebook who were local and was amazed how welcoming and helpful people were ,one of these people was miss bamboo www.missbamboo.co.uk a local business specialising in 40s-50s reproduction vintage fashion, she was so helpful and really helped me spread the word about my page and became one of my first customer’s, as my page grows I have an ever expanding band of followers from pinup models like October divine ,sinderella Rockafella and loads more ,I’ve even had posts shared by sailor jerrys rum page which was awesome, I’m still waiting for the barrel of rum to show up though,
