"I was scared and embarrassed about my size" At 51, our Janet (working Mum of two children) tells her story about why she joined us at Benefit. As time has crept on over the years, I have just kept gaining weight. I'm very much a 'stress eater' and whenever I feel stressed (which over the past years has been pretty much every week) I eat to make myself feel better. In that 'before' photo I hated myself when i looked in the mirror... The bigger i got the more I'd eat to comfort myself, and it wasn't until our Danielle suggested I should try Fitness Club that I thought it was time to get my act together. I was scared at first and embarrassed at my size, but after the first session I was hooked! Since joining, I've lost a stone and a half in weight through the classes and my new approach to healthy eating. I feel great about myself and I actually like what i see when i look in the mirror! I absolutely hate it if I have to miss a class!! I would absolutely recommend it to any one - it got me fit and healthy... and the members are a great bunch!! If you can relate to Janet and would like to see yourself lose a stone and a half before Christmas - we have spaces in Cramlington, North Shields and Newcastle starting Monday! Contact for more information!

"I was depressed, fed up and would never even look in the mirror" Our North Shields member Lorraine Armstrong shares her story with you - As a midwife, I often get asked to have my photo taken with the babies I deliver, however I’ve always avoided them because I didn’t want people to be showing off the photos of the ‘fat midwife’ holding their baby. At a size 18, creeping towards a size 20, I had very little confidence and always avoided going out to meet family, friends and I never went out on a work night out with my colleagues. I had no nice clothes and I felt fat and ugly because of my weight. I always worried about what people were thinking when they looked at me. I would never go to the shops and look at nice clothes; there was no point because I looked and felt terrible in them and I hardly ever looked in the mirror as it made me feel more fed up. Because of this, I have suffered from depression and for many years my weight issues have lead me in to a pattern of comfort eating: I ate to make me feel better, but the more weight I gained, the more depressed I got and the more depressed I got, the more I ate. When I turned 40 I began to think that enough was enough and I was at the age where I thought that I needed to start looking after myself - but as usual, life got in the way. I used excuse after excuse not to start this week, I was always going to start next week… Over the last year, I have had a lot to deal with, I have lost both of my parents and I have had to see both of my children devastated by the loss of their grandparents. This finally spurred me on for once in my life to get a grip. I had a HUGE battle to face ahead of me. I had set a target to lose nearly 4 stone in weight, and I honestly thought it wouldn’t be possible… but I went at it sensibly. started to cut out the Diet Coke first (which I relied upon heavily) - which was much easier than I thought it would be. Then I started at Fitness Club - the group have been amazing, very friendly and supportive. Lauren has always been in the background telling me that she had faith in me and that she would see me through it. Since starting, my diet has drastically improved - it hasn’t always been perfect but the more I went to Fitness Club, the more energy I had to do nice things with my kids… which itself has improved my Mental Health and spurred me on to keep going. A bad day for me now, is just that, a bad day - if I opened a packet of crisps it wasn’t the end of the world and I just started a fresh the next day. In the past, this would have been the end of that diet, and I would have “started again next week”. 15 weeks in and I am 2.5 stone lighter - 1.5 stone off my target weight and I am spending money on nice clothes to wear. My kids see a nice new healthy Mum (emphasis on healthy, not skinny as this is what I have drilled in to them). When I look back at my transformation photos to date I look back and feel sad that I ever looked like that but it spurs me on to believe that I can and have done so much in a space of 3 months. If you want to join us - we have LIMITED spaces left at our North Shields group. Contact me direct to reserve your space.

Nothing makes me more proud of being a coach than these amazing, dedicated, focused, motivated and hard core ladies. You literally blew me away this morning when you turned up at 6 am to train in that storm without one excuse. We had thunder, lightening, hail and tropical down pours and not one of them give up even though they were training in deep puddles. I literally have the best job being surrounded by such determined people and their results are speaking for themselves. Super proud coach. Love my team#Benefit#Benefitfitnessclub#wearewaterproof#theweathermanhasgotnothingonus#Resultsorexcuses
