Nine Ashes Campsite, Bodmin, United Kingdom
Youth Organization

Description

ad

Nine Ashes is Cornwall County Scouts Training, Activity Centre and Camping site.

Situated approximately 3 miles from Bodmin on the B3266 Camelford Road.

The site consists of 25 acres of woodland, and 5 acres of camping (with an additional 7 acres added during the peak season, by use of adjoining farmers fields).

The site is part of the private Pencarrow Estate, and is well secluded from the road, and whilst in easy reach of Bodmin & Wadebridge, is very much in an isolated position.

Overall, Nine Ashes has so much to offer, with camping space for up to six Groups on the 'Pencarrow' Field (main site), use of the 'Trescowe' (additional) field (June-September) can provide for extra capacity for an additional four Groups to meet the needs of most requests.

Central to Cornwall, in the heart of the countryside, and well resourced,

Nine Ashes is a unique camp site, and well worth a visit

Trust for Scouting Cornwall Fun Day - Sunday 25th March Just got home after a very busy but enjoyable day We hope all who attended had a good time with the wide range of activities on offer. Its time to thank the Trust for Scouting Cornwall for organising the day - its a pleasure to work with the trust providing this very successful day. But more importantly I would like to say a massive thank you and well done to the Nine Ashes Staff, Volunteers and occasional helpers who came along, gave up their time and provided such a fantastic range of fun and enjoyment. You are too many to name individually (and I'm sure I would forget someone) but at a rough count we had 21-22 team members helping for this day - so once again - A MASSIVE THANK YOU Without your help, today would not of been possible

Kernow24 - Things are a little quiet at the moment - I think some explorers have taken to opportunity go get some rest - bless!! - but others are still hard at this 24 hour challenge and ignoring the weather - currently we have Zip wire, whittling, Air rifle and pistol shooting, Wii games, cinema, pedal karts and a few other things open - earlier we had a very good campfire sing song led by Andy from Newquay (thanks Andy) - we held it in our activity barn due to the weather and even managed to have a fire as part of it as well (in the log burner) - only another 5.5hrs to go and the weather has eased - but it hasn't been that bad really !!

Kernow24 - if you are coming to this event - please remember your waterproofs and warm clothing and spares. We have been keeping an eye on the weather and yes its going to be wet and windy so be prepared Obviously if we get it as bad as predicted some activities may not take place but others will still be more than able to continue. We have 3 good size indoor spaces which we will use plus many of the activities in the woods have covered areas. The high winds might restrict our use of some areas of woods but we can only wait and see what happens - with the high winds reported last week we never saw any of it - so fingers crossed. What we can say is - we will definately be able to do the following - Crafts - paracord, pyrography, glass painting, RC tanks, Wii games, Cinema, Rifle shooting, Air pistol shooting, Crossbow and catapult shooting, board games, Pedal karts, Archery, Whittling/knife skills, Prussiking, First Aid Skills, Knife Sharpening, Orienteering. If the weather allows for anytime, we will also open the following - Climbing Wall, Abseiling tower, Crate stacking, Zip Wire, low ropes course, cave/tunnels, crate stacking, Mini quad bikes, laser tag, camp fire plus more. We can keep our fingers crossed that the weather will not be as bad as the news reports predict. Hope to see as many as possible tomorrow.
