Hi Everyone, I've dug up a few photos from the successful March Open Day 😂 The Head Gardener's latest and most daring build project to-date, 'The Bog Garden,' is now complete. This shanty looking structure is rooted to the far corner by the pond and adds a psychedelic twist to the normal floral views. Meanwhile, back in the real garden, Donna, Lauren, Margaret and myself tackled more mundane but equally important tasks - pot management, weeding the borders, pruning last year's growth and tidying up old pallets and fence panels. The net result is a dam good tidy up and clearance of rubbish, dead wood, weeds and completion of the area in front of Pot City and Caroline's Corner. The new pallet signage painted up and prepared by Donna is really good and can easily be popped out by the front entrance on Open Days and events. Ben's bed is now clear for turning and the greenhouse and 2nd potting shed are fully operational. Ash's time digging in the sand pit was cut short and Ted was in charge of wheel barrow manoeuvres and baked several mud cakes! Another great days effort - well done team. Next Open Day is 14 April..

In addition to the photos already posted from Sat. Head Gardener's log growing date 10 March 2018. The team hit back with pace after the recent freezing of garden assets due to the Beast from the East. And all of this done on an impromptu open day: Green house glazed and operational, Pot city re-organised, Potting shed kitted out, Extra soil added/raked in to beds, Crab apple, hawthorn, dog rose, hazel and dog wood saplings planted out along back wall, Water fountain set up in pond, Bark/mulch entrance to greenhouse and potting shed, Peppermint and Builders' tea drunk! See you all at next open day on 24 March.

The 2nd Open day of 2018 was a great success as we made progress on many fronts, except regretfully not with the bridge! The greenhouse is now rightfully positioned in Caroline's Corner, next to Pot City, thanks to John keeping a level head! The curving architecture of the Willow, as designed by Lauren and Ash, matches that of the arch. Jasper and Jackie did a grand job of digging the beds. The teamwork of Donna and Andy moved slabs and sand for the construction of the greenhouse base and we found a dead rat - yuk. Caroline and Emma pebbled, potted and talked about rugby. We also had visits from Margaret, who helped with pruning and tidying the beds and from a member of Friends of Lake Meadows. These were all achieved with John Frid at the helm, well done team. And finally, we had a good catch up from Paul on many points, so thanks for that, and thanks also to Caroline for making the excellent chocolate brownie cake - delicious😎

Bbbbbrrr day today but the team worked on the new greenhouse base, bird feeders with spring bulbs around the base, widening beds, making a willow den and enjoying chocolate brownies.
