Due to the continuing snow and falling temperatures, school will remain closed tomorrow. It is hoped that we will resume on Monday. World Book Day costumes will be required for Tuesday. The P1S fire station visit will be rescheduled for another date. Please stay safe around the school area as the pavements and roads are still very dangerous.

A few highlights from the P6 residential trip...

Roads and pavements are extremely dangerous around the school currently. With expected freezing temperatures overnight there will be little chance of change. School will be closed tomorrow. Further updates will be posted tomorrow with regards to Friday. Text alerts will be sent out shortly. World book day will therefore be postponed - keep the costumes handy for our return to school! A decision will be made regarding P1S fire station visit in due course. Thank you for your understanding and please take extra care if walking or driving around the school area.

Thank you so much to the wonderful parents at Cairnshill PS! Your patience, support and understanding is greatly appreciated. It is never easy taking a decision to close a school but the health and safety of children, parents and staff must be a priority. Thankfully all children, including the P6 residential trip, were collected quickly and safely. Special thanks go to the staff on the residential for ensuring that the children got back to Belfast safely. Thank you to the parents for their support with the emergency pick up arrangements. As usual, we will update you all later this evening with regards to any potential closure for tomorrow. A site inspection will be carried out tonight and again tomorrow morning if necessary. Text alerts will be issued if the school is to close tomorrow. We will be glad to see the end of winter! Roll on spring!

P6 Residential children are to be collected at Cairnshill Park and Ride. They will be there for approximately 1.45pm.

Roads are progressively getting worse so please have all children collected by 2pm. We would advise parents to collect children as soon as possible. Come to the main school office or directly to the P3 block.

All after school activities are cancelled today. It is advisable for parents to collect ALL children at 2pm today. Please take care on roads and footpaths when travelling to and from the school.

Text alerts and social media updates will be used to communicate with parents regarding the latest weather conditions. Please keep the school phone lines as clear as possible. School trip remains on schedule at this stage.

P6 Trip update... All children off to bed after a really busy day! Everyone has had brilliant fun taking part in a huge range of activities - hope you’ve seen our Twitter posts throughout the day. The weather has been cold but dry & everyone has really enjoyed spending time outdoors. All the children are happy and well but a little tired!

Today was the turn of P1B! The children really enjoyed their trip to Central Fire Station with the highlight being getting to use the water hose!💦💦💦

P6 Trip update... It’s been a busy day at Greenhill. Activities have included orienteering, hill-walking, archery, team challenges, climbing wall and much more! Everyone is exhausted (staff included!) but there’s been lots of fun. The children are all well & mainly asleep.😀 Looking forward to lots of new experiences tomorrow.
