In Thai tradition, the colorful and joyous ceremony recognizes the presence of spirits, and seeks their protection and blessings for serenity, happiness, and prosperity.

During the session, Mr. Best discussed how crowdfunding is part of the standard investment vehicle and how he expects it to develop during the next year. The session was well attended by 50 start-ups entrepreneurs at C asean Bangkok.

Under the Science Envoy program, the U.S. Department of State names some of America’s most distinguished scientists to build partnerships to enhance international scientific cooperation. As Science Envoy for the Ocean, Dr. Lubchenco is advancing Secretary of State John Kerry’s agenda to elevate the importance of ocean conservation and mobilize international efforts to respond to threats to the ocean environment.
