The Colosseum was the emperor’s gift to the Romans. Without doubts it was not only an amphitheatre. It became a symbol of power and majesty of the emperor, Rome and Roman society. The engineering and construction processes that were used to create the Colosseum were amazing and some were even new to the world of architecture and construction. The Colosseum was in a way a model for all of the sports stadiums and arenas we have today in all different parts of the world. The shape was a major way that influenced our stadiums today.
