The mission of Happyville Productions is to showcase intelligent plays and musicals and stage them creatively to give the audience a unique experience. As a new play development organization, we also take pride in presenting the groundbreaking plays and musicals of tomorrow.
The company is currently writing its own rock opera, titled TEST, with the first workshops scheduled for September 2014 and January 2015 in Basel, Switzerland.

While TEST is under development, the company is in production with the play Don Juan in Soho by Patrick Marber in a small theater in Basel. This play is a sophisticated, witty and entertaining retelling of Molière’s play about Don Juan, the man who turned womanizing into a sport.

The company’s first and most-recent production was the musical RENT, which was produced in September 2013 in Basel, Switzerland in a run of 10 sold-out and highly acclaimed shows. Happyville Productions produced RENT in an old industrial hall that had been converted into a space for public performances. The hall had the right amount of exposed-brick architecture and dangling steel pipes to give it the look and feel of gritty New York. A thrust stage was built to extend six meters into the hall, giving the audience a very intimate experience.

The company was founded in July 2013 in Basel, Switzerland.
The owners are:

KRISTA JAQUET
Krista is the co-CEO of high-tech company based in Basel, Switzerland. Krista has directed numerous plays, including A Streetcar Named Desire and the musical RENT. In addition, she has written a one-act play called Expert in Flowers, which was staged at the FEATS festival of English-language theater groups in Europe. She has also worked in film Los Angeles.

JAMES SIEVERT
Jamie is a writer, editor and translator from Los Angeles, currently living in Basel, Switzerland. He has written numerous plays, some of which have been produced at venues such as the New Works Festival in Pittsburgh, the Chameleon Theater in Minneapolis, and the FEATS festival of English-language theater groups in Europe.

DANIEL RAAFLAUB
Dani completed his training as a musical performer at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Since then he has appeared in many musicals, including RENT, Space Dream, Alperose, Godspell and many others.

STEFAN RAAFLAUB
Stefan completed his training as a musical performer at the Joop van den Ende Academy in Hamburg. He has appeared in numerous musicals such as My Fair Lady, RENT, Grease and Godspell. He is also a member of the a cappella ban VoxxClub in Germany.
