4yrs ago I wrote this... Here is some background: * In 1994 I finished my degree and instead of being a teacher, I've decided to open my own barn in Bloemfontein. Mistyped Hills opened it's doors on 1 December 1994 and my Mom Susan, were excited for this decision and supported me with wholeheartedly. At MHS I've won my 1st SA Champion as trainer, with the horse "Guess Who", owned by Theo and Hettie Marais. I've had my 1st rider in the Champion of Champions too, Herma Wessels, daughter of Mejalie and Ilse Wessels. At MHS I've learned some very hard, but valuable lessons regarding my business, horses, but most of all people. * On 4 June 1996 I've moved from MHS and I've accepted an offer from Do-Trying Stables in Upington, co-owned by the amazing Potgieter-Family and myself. At Do-Try we've made absolutely great memories and dreams came true. I was blessed here with the most amazing family, who accepted me into their family and showered me with unconditional love & I've had the best customers who believed in the process to make dreams a reality. At Do-Try I've won my 1st SA Grand Champion- Fineharness, with Valley-Venture Walking Tall, owned by Wayne and Bianca Erasmus. We've experienced great success at Do-Try. * In 2004 I've accepted a joboffer from Heyns Stables in Kraaifontein, in the beautiful WP. Heyns Stables was owned by Hennie, Nicky, Henno and Louise Heyns - another family who accepted me into their home and lifes. Though Heyns Stables were family owned, we've accepted outside training horses and did equitation too. I had the honor to work with the most amazing horses and talented riders and was part of a well oiled machine. The Grand CHampion and CHampionship ribbons were added, in performance and equitation and platinum memories were made, everyday. To be part of The Heyns Stables Team were a blessing daily and my assistants, Anel Tjoppie Fourie and Kate Ryan and our awesome grooms made everyday a breeze and so much fun. * August 2016 I've accepted the challenge to work at Juhantha Stables, Wellington - owned by The Smith Family. At Juhantha I've had the honor to work amazing horses, trained talented riders and be part of the ups- and downs of the breeding business. In the 6yrs at Juhantha I've been blessed with spectacular wins at varoius shows and Brave Heart Warrior taught me so much. * On this day, 4yrs ago, I've relocated to Bloemfontein and started Dream Acres Equestrian Centre. To me, a dream came true and yes, nothing was ever easy before it was difficult and damn some lessons were harder than I EVER thought could be, but at DAEC we are blessed beyond my wildest imagination - THANK YOU FATHER. # Yes, I do miss MHS, Do-Try, Heyns Stables and Juhantha Stables and all it's exceptional people, for they added so much quality to my life and I've learned so much from each one, but that is chapters closed and I never look back - for my future lies in front of me and not behind me. Thank You Father for always looking out for me, per second and for ever unto YOU be all the glory! Amen

This past few days I realised again that I'm so much more human than hero. Being human, so many times giving-up appears to be my only option. ...but then, through horses and with a grateful heart, I get to spend quality time with quality people on so many occasions. And in moments and days spend like this, that is the stuff my dreams are made off. I realise that all the too many and too long hours are worth it, and I will do it again and again. And the responsibility of helping somebody's dreams and goals come true, is an honour! Their well being, goals and personal journey were, is and will always be my priority and responsibility, no matter what. The effort one puts in to make it all work out, the fact that one cares more than you'll ever imagined and one wants to do even more to bring a sparkle in a horse's eye or a smile in a rider's heart... ...THAT'S the moment you know, this is not just a job. THIS is who I am. No matter all the perceptions and opinions out their. As long as I know I gave it my all and never gave up on any horse or rider. Being a horse trainer and instructor are my life, my being - it is my everything - THIS IS ME. ...again, more human than hero, but passionate and committed to make the process and journey be more successful - not just ribbon-wise, but in horse and rider's life too. Being a horse trainer and instructor is not just a commitment, it's a way of life. The responsibility this "calling" puts on us as trainers and instructors, is a huge and important one, because how we handle some situations and what we do now echoes in eternity. And that is a fact. I'm so blessed and very grateful for EVERY customer/friend, horse and rider, past, present and future. And to be a part of the Dream Acres EC Team is still an honour. No matter the opinions of customers, riders, friends or honest critics. This is life. This is my life. I'm just an instrument in HIS amazing Plan for us all and I'm honoured and grateful I'm under HIS protection and guidance. ...thank YOU so much Father. DOXA DEO GLORIA!

This is something to think about, especially for the riders here at DAEC. Hope this makes so much sence as it did to me and will open-up a whole new way of thinking about your horse, equitation and being a better functional and thinking rider.
