MAO I Muzej za arhitekturo in oblikovanje / Museum of Architecture and Design, Ljubljana, Slovenia
www.mao.si Muzej za arhitekturo in oblikovanje je osrednja slovenska muzejska za arhitekturo, urbanizem, industrijsko in grafično oblikovanje ter fotografijo. Muzej zbira in hrani gradivo z navedenih področij, ga preučuje ter predstavlja javnosti na razstavah, predavanjih, delavnicah in skozi druge dejavnosti. Muzejske zbirke obsegajo skoraj 150 000 različnih predmetov od načrtov, skic in modelov zgradb do različnega pohištva, drobnih premetov, aparatov, plakatov, različnih tiskovin in fotografij. V MAO so zastopani skoraj vsi vidni slovenski arhitekti in oblikovalci 20. stoletja ter številni fotografi; skupaj več kot 1000 avtorjev.

Arhitekturni muzej je leta 1972 ustanovilo mesto Ljubljana, leta 2010 pa je ustanoviteljske obveznosti prevzela Vlada Republike Slovenije in ga preimenovala v muzej za arhitekturo in oblikovanje.

Z zbiranjem in predstavljanjem dediščine MAO svojim obiskovalcem omogoča razumevanje preteklosti in prihodnosti arhitekture, oblikovanja in fotografije. Muzej se odpira kot prostor, namenjen vsem, ki želijo raziskovati, se učiti in izvedeti več o tem, kako naseljujemo življenjski prostor, ga organiziramo, spreminjamo, oblikujemo, označujemo in si ga prisvajamo.

Muzej za arhitekturo in oblikovanje se nahaja na Fužinskem gradu, na levem bregu Ljubljanice, na vzhodnem robu mesta slovenske prestolnice. Fužinski grad je lep primer renesančnega dvorca s cilindričnimi vogalnimi stolpi in arkadnim osrednjim dvoriščem.

The Museum of Architecture and Design is a national Slovene museum for architecture, industrial design, graphic design, visual communication and photography. MAO introduces the past work of architects, designers, and photographers as useful experiences, knowledge, and ideas for a better future. It systematically collects, stores and studies materials related to these fields of activity and displays them in temporary and permanent exhibitions, making it possible for visitors to understand the past and the future of architecture, design and photography. The Museum of Architecture and Design (known as MAO, from its Slovene name Muzej za arhitekturo in oblikovanje) houses nearly 150,000 different objects, from plans, sketches, and models for buildings to various kinds of furniture, small objects, instruments and appliances, posters, various kinds of printed materials, and photographs. Almost all the prominent Slovene architects and designers from the twentieth century, as well as many photographers, are represented in the museum’s holdings, totalling more 1,000 artists altogether.

The Ljubljana Architecture Museum was established in 1972 by the City of Ljubljana. In April 2010 the management of the museum was transferred from the city to the state and the museum was renamed into Museum of Architecture and Design.

[BIO 25 V SLIKAH] Popotovanje po slovenski krajini smo zaključili z ogledom kamnoloma Lipica - Marmor, Sežana d.d., iz katerega je skupina SPROSTITEV PODZEMLJA uporabila materiale za instalacijo v MAO Ljubljana. Studio Formafantasma in sodelujoči Dan Adlešič, Patrick Herron, Eva Jäger, Daniele Misso in Isabella Rinaldi, ki jih je navdahnilo sodelovanje s teoretičnim fizikom in filozofom Andrejem Detelo, so izhajali iz stališča, da v trenutku, ko se srečamo z naravnim virom, ta zapusti področje geologije in vstopi na področje človeškega. Takrat se znajdemo na križišču, kjer se podzemlje lahko "sprosti" oz. osvobodi različnih pojmovanj. Na tej predpostavki so oblikovali dva scenarija, ki se odvijata v podzemnih prostorih kraškega terena: v kamnolomu, ki ga je ustvaril človek, in v jami, ki jo je ustvarila narava (Županova jama). Ustavili smo se še na slovenski obali, ob razstavišču Monfort, kjer je na ogled del instalacije skupine NOVI HEROJI 'This is a Poor/Rich State'. Izjava se nanaša na kontroverzno izjavo migrantke med prečkanjem slovensko-hrvaške meje, na katero so se odzvali Odo Fioravanti, Luca Fattore in Marin Medak. Na ogledu, ki bo ponovno organiziran tudi 21. oktobra, so nas gostili nepogrešljivi partnerji epizode Marmor, Sežana d.d., Občina Piran, Obalne galerije Piran in Pomorski muzej - Museo del mare "Sergej Mašera" Piran-Pirano. [BIO 25 IN PICTURES] FARAWAY, SO CLOSE exploration was concluded with the tour of Lipica Quarry - Marmor, Sežana d.d., from where the UNDERGROUND RELEASE team extracted the material for their installation in MAO Ljubljana. Studio Formafantasma with the participating designers Dan Adlešič, Patrick Herron, Eva Jäger, Daniele Misso and Isabella Rinaldi were inspired by an exchange with theoretical physicist and philosopher Andrej Detela. From the perspective of design, a natural resource leaves the purely geological realm and enters the human one the moment we encounter it. At that instance, we face a crossroads where the underground world can be "released" from various perspectives. Adressing such a place and the issues it raises they identified two scenarios, both of them set in underground Karst spaces: the Lipica Quarry which is man-made, and Županova jama (Mayor's Cave) which is naturally formed. We have stopped at the Slovenian Coast, by the installation 'This is a Poor/Rich State' by the group NEW HEROES on the Hall Monfort. The installation referes to the controversial statement made by a migrant crossing the Slovenian border and addresses the responses of people and the media to the migration process and its complex dynamics. [BIO 25 V SLIKAH] Presečišče idej v MAO (Otvoritev DALEČ, TAKO BLIZU) »Dobra novica! Najnovejše raziskave kažejo, da v Evropi vedno več ljudi zapušča mesta in se naseljuje na podeželju in v drugih neurbanih okoljih. Še več – zdi se, da se ta trend krepi. [BIO 25 V SLIKAH] Zgodbe iz hoste DALEČ, TAKO BLIZU popotovanje smo nadaljevali z vodenim ogledom inštalacije in pokrajine, ki je navdihnila epizodo ZAVZETJE GOZDOV v Rožnem studencu v Kocevje. Glavno prevpraševanje ustvarjalcev epizode z matali crasset, avtorice peči na drva Skupni štor in Matej Fegus ter sodelujočimi Marcin Liminowicz in Pola Salicka, Petra Bukovinski, Karolina Ferenc, Annika Frye, Jurij Lozić, Martina Obid Mlakar in Danielom Rieglerjem je bilo, ali bi lahko danes oblikovali družbeno okolje po vzoru eksperimentalnih komun z začetka 20. stoletja ter se tako izognili racionalizaciji in standardizaciji »sodobnega« življenja. Na ogledu, ki bo organiziran tudi 7. oktobra, so nas gostili ter se nam v sklenjen krog okrog peči pridružili tudi neprecenljivi prijatelji epizode Občina Kočevje, Zavod za gozdove Slovenije OE Kočevje, Slovenski državni gozdovi (SIDG), Javni zavod za turizem in kulturo Kočevje, Gimnazija in srednja šola Kočevje, Urbani Brlog; Društvo za razvoj prostorske kulture, Pokrajinski muzej Kočevje, Robert Žuman – pečarski mojster, Podjetniški inkubator Kočevje, Slovenski etnografski muzej in Muzej novejše zgodovine Slovenije. V nedeljo je v MAO Ljubljana potekala prva ustvarjalnica 'Les ni samo lep' ob razstavi 25. bienala oblikovanja. Otroci so si ogledali delo skupine Zavzetje gozdov in spoznavali gozd skozi različne pristope in poglede. Na delavnici so skozi čutila so spoznavali lastnosti lesa, sestavljali, gradili, razstavljali in ugotavljali, kako se je uporabljal v arhitekturi ali oblikovanju skozi zgodovino. [BIO 25] Prvi dan bienala smo za novinarje pripravili predogled razstave v MAO Ljubljana s kustosinjama Angelo Rui in Majo Vardjan ter skupinami Sprostitev podzemlja, Zavzetje gozdov, Po utopiji, Novi heroji, Prožnost preteklosti, Nov zagon podeželja in Čisto novo sobivanje. Kaj pomenijo ulica, trg, naselje, mesto? Kaj podeželje? Obiskali bomo Županovo jamo pri Grospupljem in odkrivali, kaj pomeni podzemni svet. Kako si zgradimo zavetje v gozdu? Kaj so konstrukcije? Kaj pomenijo ulica, trg, naselje, mesto? Kaj podeželje? Obiskali bomo Županovo jamo pri Grospupljem in odkrivali, kaj pomeni podzemni svet. The Value of Land — 13. The Gause's Law / In 1932, while studying the mixed-culture of yeasts and paramecium species, the Russian biologist Georgii Gause (1910–1986) attempted an empirical testing of the Lotka-Volterra equations. From this publication on, the competitive exclusion principle will be wrongly addressed as the Gause’s Law, even if he never actually attributed the paternity of this principle to his research. Volterra and the Predator-Prey Equations / In 1926, the Italian biologist Umberto D’Ancona could not explain why in the Adriatic sea the number of predator fish caught had exponentially risen. He realized it was a consequence of the reduction in fishing activity during WWI and he asked to his father-in-law, prof. Vito Volterra (1860–1940), president of the CNR (National Council of Researches) and eminent mathematician, if he could find a mathematical representation of the phenomenon. Volterra came up with a differential equations system that was able to explain the non-linear relationship between the populations of predators and prey, which appeared to be circular. One year before, the same equations were independently discovered by the Alfred J. Lotka, hence their official name Lotka-Volterra Equations.
