Modeled after the popular TV show, you'll have a fun sightseeing adventure cruise excursion and getting to know St. Maarten in a way most tourists never do. Your Fantastic Amazing Race cruise excursion starts after a short walk from your ship's terminal, where the shore excursion staff will be waiting for you to start this Fun-tastic Race.
The English speaking Amazing Race shore excursion guides will be at the meeting point to greet you. They will go over all of the instructions and how to do the Fantastic Race in St. Maarten. The Race is part scavenger hunt and part clue solving. This is not an individual effort...you will work in small teams on a lively and amazing race that combines action, adventure, and sightseeing in the beautiful natural environment of Philipsburg, the capital town of St. Maarten.
Once you receive the fantastic race instructions and map in your hand, you and your team will solve clues which lead you to the next destination, direct you to perform tasks or complete a challenge for bonus points and the clues for the next challenge. Each of the bonus point challenges are optional and different - some mental and some physical and can range from building a sand castle to sampling a traditional food or a dip in the ocean.
You can run fast or take it slow and enjoy the fun challenges, there is plenty of time to complete this adventure shore excursion in St. Maarten without running. There are sidewalks and you'll advance at your own pace. The clues will take you and your team over approximately 2.5 miles of walking throughout the safe and beautiful downtown area of Philipsburg, St. Maarten. No worry about getting lost as you can find Fantastic Amazing race shore excursion staff members all along the route directing you and assisting you if necessary. Each group receives a cell phone to stay connected to staff leaders in case a little extra help is needed.
Refreshments are available during the activity. The winning team will be announced during an awards ceremony and each member of that team receives a prize to take home with them. It isn't always the first team to cross the finish line who wins as the final score is calculated using both, the race time and points for the challenges.
There is no age or fitness restriction for this Amazing Race Cruise Excursion in St. Maarten, we'll let you decide for yourself. Come and be ready to have lots of fun!
You may return back to the ship after the shore excursion, at your own leisure and cost (an approximate 10 minute walk from your cruise ship terminal.

"We did this excursion when we were in St. Maarten on a cruise and it was great! We worked as a team, so met new people and enjoyed doing it together. The variety of the tasks we were given made it very interesting, and you could be as competitive or relaxed about it as you wanted. Some of the tasks involved walking around Philipsburg which was an interesting way to see the town; it was a beautiful area and we felt very comfortable there. The staff was very friendly, outgoing and encouraging which added to the fun. When we were finished, they gave us a snack and cold drink while we went over the scores and relaxed. "The staff is full of energy and very enthusiastic! The race was a blast. The only critique I would have is how they make the teams. If you are mega athletic , you should not be tramed up with people that cant keep up. There should be a mandatory requirement that everyone be part of the team somehow. Many people just got dragged along and really were not allowed to participate when their team members were much more assertive. That was unfortunate. "This shore excursion was so much fun. We had 14 family members that we split into 3 teams. The race was both physically and mentally challenging. The guides were very personable and fun. They were highly committed to making sure we all had a great time while still making us work. The people of St. Maarten were so helpful and encouraging. This tour really did make us feel like we were running The Amazing Race!!!! Great family bonding experience and for those that are looking for a competitive race, this will give you that. Not for the faint of heart if you want to truly race it. "We had a very good time. My kids are 12 and 14, and with my husband and myself we raced around St. Martin. We saw parts of the island that we hadn't seen the last time. I liked the grocery store. My daughter commented afterwards that we were all good at some part of the race. We all had our part to contribute. Very good! Don't forget to wear a swimsuit under your clothes. I answered a question with the island of Barbuda and one of the staff told me that was not an island. Check your maps people! Too funny!
