The Institute of Air Navigation Services is EUROCONTROL’s training centre.
We develop and deliver high quality air traffic management training. The Institute of Air Navigation Services (IANS) is EUROCONTROL’s training centre located in Luxembourg.
We develop and deliver quality air traffic management (ATM) training in Europe for air navigation service providers, civil and military state authorities of EUROCONTROL Member States and EUROCONTROL staff. IANS is recognised as a centre of excellence for providing advanced air traffic management (ATM) training, comprising both classroom and e-learning courses, as well as training standards, tools and programmes.

On 11 May 2016 IANS received its recognition as Regional Training Centre of Excellence (RTCE) at ICAO's Global Aviation Training Symposium in Seoul. With that it becomes one of only 20 aviation training centres in the world to achieve this status. This membership category offers additional partnership with ICAO for the development of ICAO Training Packages (ITPs). We have already started developing the first ITP course – Introduction to ATM Security [SEC-INTRO] which provides a basic understanding of ATM security and enables ATM staff to integrate this awareness in their daily tasks. More courses will follow soon.

Did you know that refresher training on assessment skills is now mandatory every 3 years? The first Controller Competency Assessor – Refresher [HUM-CCA-R] course approved according to the Reg. (EU) 2015/340 took place this week at IANS. In addition to instructor-led presentations, participants are expected to analyse different topics and to conduct practical assessment exercises. A guided tour through a practical operational change designed to enable in-depth understanding of how to do safety assessments and how to develop safety assurance for SESAR is now part of the Safety Assessment and Assurance in SESAR [SAF-SRM] course… and it is also the main reason for high student satisfaction on the last week’s course at IANS.
