On the 4th of March, members from Rush 38th scout group went to Balleally to help plant trees on Former landfill site for National tree week. The scouts started at 9 o'clock where Kevin Halpenny Senior Park superintendent from Fingal County Council went through the different types of trees they would be planting. They then started the planting and since it was raining throughout the week the ground stuck to our hiking boots and after just over two hours the line of trees was complete. The scouts were delighted to be apart of the building of the legacy of what it hoped to be Rogerstown Park in the coming years. The views from the top of the hill are ones to be seen nowhere else and especially having such a good morning for it, we could see right over to Lambay and a lot of Fingal from the top including the Round Tower in Lusk and the tower of the library in Rush. Overall it was a great day and the scouts did great work planting all the trees.
