How Much Do You Charge for a Wedding Video? There’s no getting away from the fact that getting married is an expensive business and if you are currently planning a wedding, you will know this firsthand. The average cost of getting married in Ireland is €19,625. (€24,580 including the honeymoon). So I can appreciate where callers are coming from when they start off by asking me how much I charge for filming a wedding. I am usually one on a list of about 6 or 7 videographers that receive this call. I do not put my prices on my website because I want to engage with potential clients and help educate them into making the right choice, which may or may not be Ashmore Production. There is an underlying assumption behind the question “How much do you charge?” and then opting for the cheapest, and that is, that all videographers are the same. In other words videographers all offer identical products and service, use similar equipment, have the same levels of creativity and competence with a video camera, microphone and editing software, are all professional. I could go on. But let’s not forget that filming a wedding is one of the toughest of assignments that a videographer can be given. You have got to get it right on the day – no second takes after the event! The old adages, “you get what you pay for” and “if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is” apply to videographers as they do to other areas of the wedding market. If your budget is really tight and you cannot make cuts elsewhere (e.g. covers for the chairs) then go for a professional filming just one part of the day rather than hire an inexperienced, amateur who says that s/he will cover the whole day for the same amount.
