Swan in field near Nest where female swan is hatching at Ballinagar Bridge, Lixnaw- Ballyduff. This is the male swan , called the cob & the female swan is called the pen. The young swans are called cygnets. The cygnets leave the nest after a day and can swim straight away. The cob minds them if the pen ( female) keeps hatching . They mi d them for up to a year.
