LSAD's MA SPACE is happy to welcome Dobz O'Brien (National Sculpture Factory) as our Visiting Lecturer on Thursday March 2nd. Dobz is the programme manager at the National Sculpture Factory, Cork. He will be leading a reflection on his recent residency programme/publication titled 'Im/Plants' at the Hunt Museum and at Ormston House. Im/plants is a National Sculpture Factory publication that systematically investigates and interrogates the first iteration of its new long-term programmatic strand of the same name – Im/Plants. Designed as a new but long-term programmatic strategy and constructed as a direct form of ‘performed’ institutional critique Im/plants was created to directly involve artists in the formulation of new institutional thinking in these economically restrictive times; to address artists’ agency and their responsibility within the greater context in which they operate – the social field of art; and to form new platforms for artistic production and investigation. http://nationalsculpturefactory.com/implants/ Im/Plants - National Sculpture Factory nationalsculpturefactory.com On Thursday all are welcome to join us at the Hunt Museum at 10am on March 2. We'll follow the morning session with a brown bag (bring your own) lunch (1-2pm) at Ormston House as part of their Workspace Social series which invites arts practitioners to talk about their work in a relaxed, convivial setting. All are invited to stay on for discussion at Ormston House after lunch for more in depth enquiry, led by Dobz until 3.30/4pm.
