She has an honours degree in Animal Science from University College Dublin. Upon completing her degree Kate decided to pursue her passion and work with horses full time. While completing her  Instructor Traineeship in Thornton Park Equestrian Centre, Kate also spent time competing a number of horses with competition highlights including representing Ireland on AIRC Showjumping teams, placings in the Royal Dublin Horse Show, AIRC National Champion and Festival winner. Kate travelled to the UK to compete in the BRC National Championships, which her and the Irish Team succeeded in winning, and stayed on in the UK to further her BHS training. Here she worked with Rob Lovatt and Tim Downes in Ingestre Stables. It was here that Kate's passion for Eventing began to overtake her previous interest in Showjumping. After completing her Stage IV exam Kate spent some time managing South Staffordshire College Rodbaston Equestrian Centre. She has recently returned to Ireland in order to concentrate on developing a career in Eventing. Her dream is to compete in Badminton someday and to represent her country at International Level.

This time last year I was the only crazy one in the club eventing. Yesterday I had three amigos with me and the Greenhills team finished fourth in the National Championships. Delighted to have such great friends and teammates there, and very proud of how well they all did. Daisy jumped her socks off finishing on her dressage score in fourth place in the individual section, and Harvey was a complete dude in the young horse section, unfortunately jockey had a sat nav issue at the second last and jumped it backwards. Thanks to Kilguilkey for another super event. Can't believe the season is just over!
