We are a new, Irish owned, family run, wood furniture business. We design & make tables from solid wood to suit your style & space. I am Joinery Studio.
It's just me. One person who loves design and who loves woodwork. My name is Dónal and I run Joinery Studio. I have a young family and I'm busy doing whatever it takes to provide a living for them.
I've run my own woodworking business for years, but it wasn't always Joinery Studio. I went from being a carpentry and joinery sub-contractor to being a producer of marketing woodwork for brands and record labels. The work was exciting, the money was good, but the stress levels were rising as I handled employees, cashflow, business expansion and all that other "fun" stuff. My boys were growing up fast and I didn't want to miss it. So I took some time out, studied design, and worked in joinery design for a while so I could learn. But really, I learned to look at my craft and my life from a new perspective.
I wasn't in search of work-life balance. I don't believe in it, it's all just life to me. I just wanted a happy life. One where I could work hard but didn't have to spend 14-16 hours a day away from my family. So I set up Joinery Studio. I call it a studio but really it's a shed beside my house :) This is where I design & make furniture, cabinets and a lot of different types of woodwork projects. I want to focus on my craft and develop it. I want to create beautiful joinery pieces that will stand the test of time.
I'm a trade qualified joiner - having served my trade apprenticeship. I'm also a certified designer - having studied in Dublin Institute of Design. I have worked in the woodworking industry in Ireland my entire professional life, including the construction, cabinetry, shopfitting, marketing & branding sectors. I have designed and/or made woodwork pieces for some of the biggest brands in the world, including IKEA, Jameson, & Avonmore to name just a few.

If you want a dining table a few inches longer, or a little wider, in many cases it's not possible... But we make it possible! Here's a handy guide for selecting the right size dining table for your space. If you're still having trouble visualising the size, a great tip is to lay out the table size in your room with masking tape. This gives you a great representation of the best size table for your space.
We really enjoyed designing & making this table for a recent customer. Hand crafted from solid wood with a milk white top and grey base, this table can be incorporated into lots of styles or themes.
