Foam Rolling Foam rolling is becoming ever more popular in sports and gyms as it is a way of self massage, releasing tension or trigger points in the muscle. This helps to improve the range of motion of the muscle or the joint of the person who is using the foam roller. Foam rolling can be done as part of a warm up before a training session or on a rest day as part of a recovery session. The most beneficial way to foam roll is to roll up and down the muscle slowly for 1 minute, rest for 30 seconds followed by another minute foam rolling and then move onto the next muscle

Importance is Sports Massage Regular soft tissue massage aids muscular recovery after intense activity where the muscle is fatigued. Intense activity can include running, weightlifting etc. When a muscle is fatigued it causes the muscle tone to increase which results in a 'tightness' feeling. This increased tone also limits the flexibility and shock absorbency of the muscle which can predispose the muscle to strain. Continued intense training causes repetitive microtrauma to the muscle leading to the development of a bulky connective tissue, also known as trigger points. These trigger points further reduce the flexibility of the muscle. Some of the benefits of a sports massage include: - Reducing muscle tone - Increasing the range of motion of the muscle - Increasing the blood circulation and nutrients to the muscle - Reduction of Delayed onset muscle soreness - deactivating trigger points Daily appoints available for sports massage along with injury assessment & treatment sessions. Call 087-2190359 to book your appointment Ronan
