The Natural Perfume Academy was first established in 2008 to provide education to aspiring natural and botanical perfumers, natural perfume enthusiasts, and entrepreneurs interested in creating and marketing natural and botanical perfumes. At the Natural Perfume Academy we have been teaching natural perfumery to students all over the world, in our exclusively online course, for almost 10 years. Every year we take students and we train them to become perfumers. http://www.naturalperfumeacademy.com is the perfumery school. It is the place where the students come together to learn and to develop. First we teach them the raw materials. After that it is the accords, and then the family of finished compounds. They learn how the perfume is finished and bottled. Students study in their own studios where they do their olfactive work. They will practice, making their accords and compounds using their own materials and tools. Students learn safety and how to work properly in a perfume lab. Topics include structure of perfume, visualisation of the perfume, olfactory families and bottling. The course has been developed and is taught by Ms Justine Crane from California. There is a Portuguese translation of the course including the workbook, translated and taught by Brazilian native Ane Walsh. The next course begins on the 21st of September 2015 and is now accepting applicants. The course runs for 6 months. The course is fully recognised and accredited by The International Perfume Foundation - June 2017

Looks like a boot, a dogs head, a boat or submarine. Whatever it looks like, it smells completely divine. To be precise it smells very warm, rich and resinous. This is a chunk of fresh labdanum resin from the rock rose plant. It is exuded by the plant on hot sunny days and collected by dragging strips of leather through the shrubs, then scraping off the resin (that you see here) It was originally collected from the wool of sheep and goats. It stuck to their wool while they rambled in the bushes. It is used to make labdanum absolute which is used as a base note in perfumery, for example, in amber/oriental bases .
