Description
A weekly class to introduce students to all aspects of Speech and Drama, to develop creativity, confidence, and enhance the technique of public performance The school was established in County Clare in 1992 by Eileen Fitzgerald. Eileen is an Associate of the Irish Board of Speech & Drama and is a Licentiate of Trinity College London. She is a senior examiner of the Irish Board of Speech & Drama and has adjudicated at numerous festivals across Ireland.
Students from 4 years to adults are prepared for an annual examination with Irish Board of Speech & Drama, end of year performance, Feile Luimni, Cratloe Speechfest, Sligo Feis Ceoil as well as other public performances.
Class times.
Monday, Ennis Town. 5pm-8pm. 6-18yr
Tuesday, Barefield NS 2pm-5pm. 4-12yr
Wednesday, Barefield NS 2pm-4pm. 4-8yr
Thursday, Clarecastle 2.50-5.50pm 4-12yr
Speech, drama and communication activities cover drama, improvisation, poetry, vocal technique, sight reading, mime, characterisation, public speaking, movement to music and lots more, helping to develop critical skills such as:
• Working co-operatively with others
• The ability to use clear diction and vocal modulation
• Non-verbal communication
• Listening, speaking, concentrating and observing
• Creative and imaginative thinking
• Enhancing self-expression, self-confidence and self-esteem
• Creating and sustaining fictional roles
• Presentation and public speaking
• Improvisation and role-playing
• Exploring and appreciating literature and drama

Postman Pat has been retired! No more snail mail and we’re going to make a big effort to stop using plastic this year especially one use plastic bottles. Congratulations to our students Alex Furey & Emily Connolly who were both winners of the Speech & Drama junior boys and junior Girls bursaries and perpetual cups at Feile Luimnigh 2019. It was a proud moment for me as Chairperson to present both of my students with their awards at a Feile Luimnigh Gala Concert last Sunday evening. #talentedstudents #proudteacher

Day 1 of 3 completely today! Our annual #IrishBoardofSpeechandDrama exams in Barefield NS were held today and what a positive experience it was for all the candidates. The students have worked hard to prepare for this week over the last few months and while feeling the nerves beforehand they all emerged from the exam room beaming. Thank you to our examiner Mr David Meredith for bring out the best in these young people. Tomorrow, our exams take place in Clarecastle and Friday in Cois na hAbhna. We would like to extend a warm welcome to our examiner Emer Casey. Some of the grade four candidates today...all smiles and ready for assessment! #nonerveshere.
