The Pioneer Association was founded in 1898 to provide a Christian solution to the problem of alcohol abuse. Members freely choose to abstain from alcohol and offer this sacrifice as a prayer for the freedom of others who are addicted. The Pioneer Association is an apostolate of the Irish Jesuits and was founded by Fr. James Cullen, SJ in Ireland in 1898. Members take on a threefold commitment:
1) to pray daily for the conversion of excessive drinkers,
2) To make this prayer concrete in the offering to God of total abstinence for life,
3) To make it public and an encouragement for others by openly wearing the pin.

We believe in the power of prayer, sacrifice and God's grace to radically transform the lives of those who are addicted.

In the heart of Jesus is the abyss of all virtues and the solution to all of mankind's ills.

I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death. The Pope Video 19 - July 2017 Pope's Prayer Intention - Lapsed Christians. Pope Francis - July 2017 Let us never forget that our joy is Jesus Christ — his faithful and inexhaustible love. When a Christian becomes sad, it means that he has distanced himself from Jesus. But then we must not leave him alone! We should offer him Christian hope — with our words, yes, but more with our testimony, with our freedom, with our joy. Let us pray that our brothers and sisters who have strayed from the faith, through our prayer and witness to the Gospel, may rediscover the beauty of the Christian life.
