MAKE is a Symposium designed to highlight contemporary issues concerning making, and is hosted by our BA (Hons) Contemporary Applied Arts Degree MAKE 2017 Symposium:  Art + Biology
SATURDAY, 4 MARCH 10-5pm (registration opens 9:30)

STACK THEATRE, CIT CORK SCHOOL OF MUSIC


Hosted by the CIT Crawford College of Art and Design, MAKE 2016 will be our third in a series of annual Symposia that explore issues of making and materiality.  MAKE 2016 will honour the centenary of Ireland’s 1916 Rising by examining the role of objects in personal and political trauma and change.  

Our lineup of speakers includes:
Professor Catherine Harper, editor of Textile: the Journal of Cloth and Culture, UK; the important Irish artists Rita Duffy and Brian Hand; and, from Vilnius University, Egle Bogdaniene; with Sarah Kelleher of UCC Art History Dept.  

Sarah Kelleher will also head a curating team to create an accompanying exhibition of recent CCAD graduate work responding to the themes of MAKE 2016.  This show, AFFECTIVE ENTITIES will open after the Symposium on 5 March at 6pm in the CIT Wandesford Quay Gallery, and run until 26 March 2016.
