We are proud to be again associated with the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind and leading their walk along the Via Francigena (the Italian Camino) in September 2017. Everything is coming together nicely and we're looking forward to another adventure in aid of this worthy cause.

The good news is, when you get to Santiago, you're still not done... If you've got two weeks, then our 'Crossing Galicia' itinerary might be the one for you. It's a terrific route, combining the French Way with a trek to Cape Finisterre on the Atlantic coast. http://www.caminobytheway.com/tours/crossing-galicia/

It’s exciting to uncover little historical nuggets about the Camino, then to think about how these nuggets relate to the modern experience. Here’s an example: In the 11th and 12th centuries, the numbers walking the Camino were enormous, perhaps as much as one million pilgrims per year. Some have estimated that during this period no less than ten percent of the population of Europe were involved in either walking the pilgrimage to Santiago or supporting it in some way. One historical record we're fond of is that of the Moorish traveler complaining about the delays on the road to Santiago. So if you’re worried that the Camino is becoming too busy, just think about that for a second. We’re good: There’s plenty of trail.
