Spraoi is a Community Childcare Centre located between the N.S. and Secondary School in Ballymote, Co. Sligo.

Spraoi started as a prefab for 1 playgroup behind Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal in 1989, In February 2008 we received a capital grant of 1.2 million from Pobal and the centre we are now based in was created.

Our Aims at Spraoi
To provide a safe environment in which children are encouraged to play and share new experiences.
To provide a homely atmosphere at our childcare centre.
To highlight importance of play in children's development.
To promote pre-school development of children in accordance with the childcare.
Regulations and parents wishes Síolta and Aistear.
For the entire community to participate in and avail of this childcare service.

We cater for children between the ages of 12 months and 12 years, and offer both full and part-time day care for your child.
We have a Baby room for between the ages of 12 months and 2 and a half years and can facilitate up to 10 children.
Our toddler room caters for children from the age of 2 to 4 years and can facilitate up to 10 children.
Our playgroup can facilitate 20 children a session and the children are between the ages of 2 years six months and 5 years.
Full and Half day care is also offered along with the sessions of playgroup.

Fluffy's visit to Spraoi Today we had a very special visitor with us. Fluffy the lamb came to see all the children in spraoi. The children were very excited to see Fluffy and for quite a few children it was their first time to see a lamb!! The children got to see Fluffy drinking his bottle of milk and they also got the opportunity to pet Fluffy. This was a fantastic experience for the children and one that they thoroughly enjoyed!! And special thanks to Shane and his Daddy for bringing Fluffy in to see us😀

The children in the Downstairs Pre-school Room have been busy undertaking a science experiment. They wondered what would happen if we took the snow inside, and this is what we found! Lots of fun was had too!!

Today is the feast of St Bridget, and the children in the Downstairs Pre-school Room have been busy learning all about her, her cloak and how to make St Bridget's Day crosses. Lots of fun was had!!

"Do you want to build a snowman" Today our wobblers had lots of fun playing in the snow. They enjoyed some sensory play while also getting some fresh air and exercise.

We introduce to you, 'Buddy' the elf! He has been busy making mischief in the Downstairs Pre-school Room. But the children have been on hand to help Buddy, tidy up, put on his coat and most importantly to play and have fun!!

"Ice Ice Babies" Today our Wobblers had lots of fun painting ice blocks!! They engaged in sensor play while exploring a new material. This helps their cognitive development and skills of questioning while having lots of fun at the same time!
