***Teens Pilates*** We are delighted to begin our Teen Pilates classes supervised by a Chartered Physiotherapist. This class starts on Tuesday May the 1st at 5pm. Our specifically designed programme can help to bridge the gap between a school sports programme and daily activity. The class aims to improve your child’s posture, strength, flexibility, boost self-esteem and body confidence By introducing teenagers to the basic Pilates principles that govern this mind-body exercise, they can learn how to develop a good understanding of how a balanced, strong body can last a life time. In school-aged children, physical activity can lead to better academic achievement, increased attention span and improved behaviour. This 6 week class is suitable for boys and girls between 13 and 18 and will aim to build a strong foundation for a healthy body and mind. During each 60 minute class, our certified instructors will guide a small group through a specially designed Pilates programme. Numbers In the class are small so contact us here in the clinic to reserve your place. Pilates can be fun and is really for everyone regardless of your fitness and activity level.

I am so delighted and proud to have my research project accepted for publication in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research. This is our first piece of published work, exploring the effectiveness of the single-leg Roman hold and Nordic hamstring curl in improving hamstring strength-endurance in Gaelic Football. It is important as clinicians that we continually develop and improve our skills to provide evidence based care to all our patients. Here at O'Neill Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic we are committed to undertaking continuous professional development to provide the best possible service. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29489726

Here in the clinic we are delighted to offer Reflexology. Laura, our reflexologist is highly qualified and specialises in maternity and oncology reflexology. What is reflexology? Reflexology is the study and practice of treating points and areas in the feet and hands that relate to corresponding parts of the body which dates back to ancient Egypt and China. Using precise hand and finger techniques, a reflexologist may improve circulation, induce relaxation and enable homeostatsis. Who can benefit from reflexology? Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. After you have completed a course of reflexology treatment for a specific condition, many people find it beneficial to continue with regular treatments in order to maintain health and well-being. While many people use reflexology as a way of relaxing the mind and body and counteracting stress, at the same time many doctors, consultants and other health care professionals recognise reflexology as a well established, respected and effective therapy. With ever increasing levels of stress, it is important people take more responsibility for their own health care needs. Reflexology helps us to cope on a physical, mental and emotional level thereby encouraging us to heal and maintain health in all areas of our lives. If you would like to book and appointment with Laura please call 0879524829.
