20 June was #WorldRefugeeDay2017. Thank you for standing with Centre for Refugeess this month to commemorate the courage and resilience of the 65 million who have been forced to leave their homes in search of safety, and celebrate the contributions of those who have sought refuge in our communities and helped us grow as a society. Hong Kong has a rich history of providing a safe haven from those affected by organised violence--from Russian and Chinese refugees in mid-1950s, Vietnamese in the 1970s, and those from over 70 nationalities in more recent years. Let us be proud of our history and continue to provide support to those who are most vulnerable and distressed. This Monday marked the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. Centre for Refugees calls on you to stand in solidarity with all the affected people. We might not exactly know how they suffer, but we can join in a cry against such inhumane practices. They survived, and we now help them to live. Join us and help those who flee their homes because of torture.
