Description

The College Committee of Chi Sun College (or in short, CoCo), is a student organization formed by a collective group of motivated residents in late 2012. The College Committee of Chi Sun College (or in short, CoCo), is a student organization formed by a collective group of motivated residents in late 2012 when the Residential Colleges was first established. We aim to create our own unique College culture through facilitating student activities initiated by members, tutors, and residents, and providing communication channels between the students and the College tutorial team.

CoCo welcomes students from all backgrounds and demographics to join our team. As an English-based student collective, we aim to provide a different experience to conventional HKU student societies; both members and College residents are welcome to propose event ideas and initiatives of their own, and work together with the tutorial team in providing various activities for residents (such as SuperPass dinners, speaker events, lifestyle workshops, sports gatherings etc.).

Hey everyone! Dance classes are going to start this week at Chi Sun, and we’ll be adopting a different format this time to hopefully include more people, from absolute beginners to seasoned veterans. This year, we’ll be having an intermediate jazz funk performance team in addition to a beginners hip hop class under the instructors from Neverland Dance! The classes will be held at the very nearby location of Lap Chee College’s studio (Room 304), so take a break from studying to meet new friends, pick up a new hobby, or simply get some exercise! The classes will be $480 / six classes (which averages out to be $80 / class), and will run every Wednesday starting this week (October 14th) until November 25th except for the second last week where it will be moved to the Thursday to avoid clashing with our High Table Dinner [Wednesdays 7-8:30 (14/10, 28/10, 4/11, 11/11, 19/11 (Thursday), 25/11)]. Sign up now at: http://tinyurl.com/CSCdance15 Looking forward to seeing you guys there!

We are recruiting! We have received many enquiries regarding the upcoming recruitment for this year’s College Committee (or CoCo, for short), and we are glad to finally announce that we are now officially recruiting new blood! CoCo is a group of student ambassadors at Chi Sun College, motivated to promote the development of the college and student body through organizing a number of social events, and working alongside the tutorial team in nurturing the culture of the college. Some events that we have organized in the past include end-of-semester SuperPass dinners, speaker events, festive celebrations, and social gatherings. Being the longest-standing student collective at the HKU Jockey Club Student Village III, we hope to continue our work in the upcoming year, and we need your help to make this happen. So what exactly do we look for in a CoCo member? In essence, we are looking for motivated students who would be comfortable taking responsibility in leading a number of recreational and educational activities at Chi Sun College, and work alongside tutors in making these activities happen. In addition, we are also looking for students who are able to represent the College well, whether it be at the monthly High Table, or even at alumni events outside of HKU. Finally, we are looking for students with vision, ambition, and determination; many of our senior members will be graduating this year, and we hope to find student leaders who can carry the torch for a sustained period of time, and build upon the foundations of which we started during our time here at Chi Sun College. Why would I want to join CoCo? Being in CoCo is an incredible opportunity for students to work with the college management and tutorial team, and it serves as a platform for you to gain experience in event management and leadership development, both of which are crucial skills in the real world. Being a member of CoCo also allows you to stand out amongst the 400+ students at Chi Sun College, and gives you the chance to take ownership of your college life. Recruitment details If you would like to join CoCo, or if you would like to simply know more about us, please join our recruitment talk on September 23rd (Wednesday), 9:15pm - 9:45pm at the College Lobby. We will be briefly introducing CoCo to everyone, and will also be announcing application details during the talk as well. We are looking to recruit a group of around 10 to 15 students, so placements are limited; make sure to come prepared with any questions or concerns if you are serious about joining us! We look forward to seeing everyone there! If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with our contact person CY at chiyeung.yau@gmail.com.
