Microsoft ändert seine Update-Verteilung Kumulative monatliche Rollups und Security-Only Updates für Win 7 und 8.1 Oft hören wir von unseren Kunden, dass die Updates unter Windows 7 sehr unregelmäßig abrufbar sind, mitunter werden dafür mehrere Tage benötigt. Leider stellt der Microsoft-Server diese nur sehr schwankend bereit und oft geht es wohl nicht weiter, weil bestimmte Updates zuerst eingespielt werden müssen. Behelfen kann man sich mit bspw. von Chip zusammengestellten Pakete, die schon mal einen Großteil der benötigten Updates installieren können. Dies soll bald ein Ende haben: Microsoft hatte bereits angekündigt künftig Updates nicht mehr wie gewohnt alle einzeln abrufbar bereitszustellen. Ab Oktober sollen diese nur noch als kumulative monatliche Rollups abgerufen werden. Allerdings wird es wohl noch einige Zeit dauern bis auch die Updates der vergangenen Jahre eingebunden werden. Bis dahin müssen die unzähligen alten Updates wohl weiterhin auf herkömmlichen Weg eingespielt werden. Eine weitere wichtige Neuerung sind nun auch so genannte Security-only-Updates, die zwar auch nicht mehr nur einzelene Lücken abdecken, aber von Microsoft künftig nicht mehr über das Windows-Update bereitgestellt werden. Diese müssen per Updatekatalog auf der Webseite für jeden Monat einzeln heruntergeladen und installiert werden. Auch sind diese nicht kumulativ. Dies hat zwar den Vorteil, dass man z.B. als Administrator eines Unternehmens auch wirklich nur die sicherheitsrelevanten Updates einspielen kann, aber komfortabel ist das so leider auch nicht gelöst.
