Interaction with Guests
Because I live in the country and am often away travelling, my son Luka will be your host and contact person. He's a free-lance graphic designer and lives in Zagreb and will be there to welcome and assist you throughout your stay.
The Neighborhood
The apartment is situated in a vibrant downtown pedestrian zone, immediately adjacent to a host of bars, cafes, shops and restaurants, and a three-minute walk from Trg Bana Jelacica, Zagreb’s Main Square. Despite its central location, the apartment and terrace enjoy an unusual tranquility. Easy access (walking distance) to the city’s main historical and cultural attractions, parks, medieval Old Town, theaters, cinemas, galleries and museums.
Zagreb, Croatia's capital, is the country's cultural, political and economic center. It is a city rich in contrasts with a history of over a thousand years. The Upper Town (Gornji Grad) is the old historical nucleus - an ochre maze of medieval cobbled lanes, Baroque facades, courtyards, churches and leafy parks. Like many Central European cities, Zagreb owes much of its present-day appearance to nineteenth-century Vienna. The business of empire building, conducted by the Habsburgs, saw the expansion of the city - the Lower Town or Donji Grad - in an orderly grid of streets and squares, parks and gardens, palaces, pavilions and public buildings. Today the odd, grey socialist architecture of 1960's Yugoslavia interpolates with the Baroque and ice-cream colored Art Nouveau facades of Zagreb's central square Trg Bana Jelacica.
As the capital of the European Union's youngest member, Zagreb projects a confident, well-healed image with coffee, cuisine and culture getting the top marks. A combination of Mitteleuropa charm and Mediterranean joie de vivre give the city its distinctive flavor.
