The STRAEON brand is a global acting school and film production company serving clients in canada and the United States. Straeon Acting Studios is an internationally recognized acting studio with locations in Montreal, Toronto, and Boston. Known as the “Gym for Actors,” Straeon carries a reputation of being both intimate and intense. Coaching is tailored to the individual and does not adhere to one particular method, allowing each actor to discover his or her own process.
Acting classes are held on an ongoing, weekly basis. Just like a personal trainer, our coaches assess where you are as a storyteller in order to guide you on the path to extraordinary acting.
About the Coaches:
JOCK MACDONALD:
Jock MacDonald has been the director of Straeon Acting Studios since 1999. He has been a professional actor for over 35 years and has been coaching and teaching acting throughout his career. In addition to his private acting classes and private coaching, Jock has taught acting at The University of Southern Maine, The University of Vermont and Ohio University.
Jock has a B.A in theatre from the University of Vermont, an MFA in acting from Ohio University, a diploma in television acting from The Weist- Barron School in New York City, and a diploma in acting from the British American Drama Academy, Oxford University. In addition to coaching and teaching, Jock continues to work professionally as an actor, writer and director in film, television and theatre.
ISABEL FARIAS:
Isabel Farias started her artistic journey at the age of 4 in ballet and classical piano. In her late teens she moved into theatre and studied at Funesc Theatre School and Three Acts theatre school. In 2006, she joined Jock MacDonald’s studio, Straeon Acting Studios with whom she formed a valuable collaboration.
Isabel has always been fascinated with learning all aspects of the performing arts. As a result she has trained with some of the masters of our art throughout the world. Some of her favorite experiences were with Butoh master Kinya Zulu Tsuruyama, The Lume Theatre group, Servilio Holanda, Warren Robertson and of course, Jock MacDonald.
Isabel has worked as an actress, director and writer in theatre, television and film in Brazil, Canada and The United States. She’s a founding member of the Graxa Theatre Group in Brazil and Holy Moly productions in Canada and U.S. She is dedicated to the art of storytelling and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with other artists.

ACTORS, FILMMAKERS, DIRECTORS, WRITERS - TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to sign up for our two day ON CAMERA SCENE STUDY INTENSIVE happening next week in Montreal!
