METHOD OF PRAYING THE EID SALAH Eid Salah is Wajeeb for men and it is two raka'ats. It is prayed the same way as five daily Salawah are prayed with the exception of the following differences: Make the intention in heart that "I intend to pray the wajeeb Salah of Eid-ul-Fitr (or Eid-ul-Adha) with six extra takbeers behind this Imam." In the first raka'at: 1. After the thana (Subhanaka Allahumma...), raise both hands up to the ears saying the takbeer (Allahu Akbar) and leave the hands by the sides. 2. Do the same again. 3. Raise both hands up to the ears, once again, saying the same takbeer and fold them on the navel. The Imam will recite Surah Fatihah and another Surah then everyone will go into ruku and complete the first raka'at by making two sajdahs as usual. In the second Raka'at: 4. After the Imam recites Surah Fatihah and another Surah, raise both hands up to the ears saying the takbeer and leave the hands by the sides. 5. Do the same again. 6. Repeat it one more time. Then say the takbeer, go into ruku and finish the Salah as usual. Note: After the Eid Salah, the imam will deliver Khutbahs in Arabic. It is wajeeb to listen to the khutbahs.

A GREAT VIRTUE OF THE NIGHTS OF THE TWO EID There is a great virtue of the nights (see Notes 1 and 2) of the two Eid. Rasulullah SallAllahu 'alaihi wa Sallam said: “Whoever spends the nights of the two ‘Eid in praying voluntary prayers, seeking reward from Allah, his heart will not die on the Day when hearts will die.” Subhaan Allah! We should try to spend these nights in as many 'ibadat as possible. NOTES: 1. In Islam, the night precedes the day, so, the night of Eid is the night between the Eid and the previous day. 2. In Islam, nights begin from sunset and remains until Fajr.

ZIKR ON THE DAY OF ARAFAH Nabi SallAllahu 'alaihi wa Sallam would recite the following abundantly on the day of Arafah: Laa ilaha illallahu wahdahu laa sharika lahu lahul mulku walahul Hamdu biyadihil khairu wahuwa ‘ala kulli shayin qadir. We should also recite the above zikr as frequently as possible.

TAKBEER-E-TASHREEQ It is wajeeb (compulsory) to say the Takbeer-e-Tashreeq once after every Fard Salah, starting from the Fajr of the day of Arafah (9th Zul Hijjah, the day before Eid-ul-Adha) until and including the 'Asr of the thirteenth Zul Hijjah (the third day following the Eid). Men should say it in a loud voice and women in a low voice. The Takbeer-e-Tashreeq is as follows: Pronunciation: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Laa ilaha illallahu, Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Walillahil Hamd. Translation: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is no God besides Him, and Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and all praise belong to Him.

VIRTUES OF THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF ZUL HIJJAH 1. Each day is equivalent to a thousand days and the day of Arafah is equivalent to ten thousand days in virtues. 2. Each night is equivalent to Lailatul Qadr in virtue. 3. A good deed done on these days is multiplied by seven hundred times. 4. The reward of fasting each of these days is equivalent to fasting for a year. 5. Fasting on the day of Arafah expiates for minor sins of the past and future year. 6. Shaytan is humiliated on the day of Arafah due to Allah's extensive forgiveness. Subhaan Allah!
