High River Times Letter to the Editor Response The Balloon Glow is a very popular event, attracting thousands of guests from High River and surrounding communities. We are proud to produce an event that has become a tradition for so many families to attend. Our volunteer organizing committee works tirelessly in the months leading up to the event, and we cannot do it without the many community members who donate their time to help crew for the balloons and act as security at the event. Our volunteers spent significant time cleaning up the field following the event, ensuring that the field was in the same condition it was when we set up, and ready for students on Monday morning. Unexpectedly, the biodegradable garbage bags disintegrated in the rain while they were waiting to be picked up. The exposed garbage was then blown back into the school yard. As soon as our committee was notified of this, volunteers returned to the field to clean up this garbage again. As the event continues to grow, we're committed to doing everything we can to be part of a strong community, and we try to learn from every year to make the next event even better.
