Wow!!!! Look how the summer is almost gone... I hope everyone had a great summer!! I am happy to announce that Kids in the Kitchen will continue... First of all I need to apologize to the 6 youth that did not get an opportunity to have a special event. I am still trying to arrange a chef and when that event comes I will notify the youth. Second... I would like to bring up the thought of contributions and fundraisers (i.e bottle drive). I would feel better if we could continue with the weekly contributions. However I also have a few weeks that I am looking for fundraising ideas for. Fundraising is how I would like to keep from having fees in the program. Third... I am looking to add youth and volunteers to the program. If you have friends or family who may be interested invite them. Cooking experience is definitely an asset for volunteers. I can accept up to 24 youth age 9-17 though the current youth in the program have priority over open spots . I will be putting ads out in the community Facebook pages this week. Our first available day is August 30, any ideas?

A fantastic opportunity has become available for our group. Our main sponsor is the Spinz -Around program through the Community Kitchen of Calgary, which is funded by the United Way. As some of you may be aware the United Way also supplies the Good Food Box programs in our communities. For those who are unaware of this program the Good Food Box program offers monthly hampers of fresh fruits and vegetables to help promote healthier eating and a more balanced diet. A large Good food box is enough fresh produce to feed a family of 6 for a week or more. Spinz Around has offered Kids in the Kitchen the opportunity to purchase Large Good Food boxes weekly. Now the cost for this is $35 a week i believe, however I will double check to make sure. Now my question to parents and supporters of the program. Are there individuals or organizations that would be interested in donating to this opportunity for K.I.K? If so can we please arrange to connect with them, or have them contact me at 403-586-5459 or email me at calgaryyogi@gmail.com. Thank you to everyone for their outstanding support for our program.
