Hi everyone, This week's conversational circle topic is "Travelling". Where would you travel too if you could go anywhere in the world? Travelling “…No stranger had to spend the night in the street, for my door was always open to the traveler.” Job 31:32 Consider 4 very different tourist destinations. How would you create your own ad for each of them? (Work together as a group) 1) Descriptive adjectives: List 5 adjectives you could use to describe one particular place. For instance, Lake Louise could be scenic, peaceful, tranquil, and breathtaking. 2) Benefits: What kinds of benefits would luxury accommodations provide for their customers? What about seeing how the people of that location really live? 3) Testimonials: What might someone say about this place? Be creative! 4) Headline: What would your headline be for your travel ad? Vocabulary All-inclusive Round trip Adventure All expenses paid Resort One-way ticket Exotic Connecting flight Complimentary Seasonal Real-life Eco-tourism Charter flight Year round Back country Once in a lifetime Idioms To have the time of one’s life To get away from it all To catch a bit of R & R For Discussion In your Groups: You are going on a trip to India. You are allowed to take only ten kinds of things. You are allowed to take as many of these items as you like. For example, you can take along as many socks as you like, but that counts as one item. What do you need to bring with you? As a Class: You’re travelling but you’ve lost your passport. What do you do? Do you need to take out medical insurance if you’re going to another country for two weeks? Why or why not? Have you ever been on a “working vacation” – i.e. a trip to another country where you work during your stay there? What would your dream vacation be like?

For this coming week, the lesson will be Easter. For the "keeners" you can read ahead. Happy Easter everyone! “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, He has risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.” ~ Luke 24:5-7 The week before Easter is called Holy Week when we remember the important events1 of that time. Not all “Followers of Jesus” celebrate in the same way. Over 2000 years many different traditions have started. Matching: Match the traditions with the special day of that week. Tradition Event 1. People gather outside to worship at sunrise. 2. Churches have a communion service. 3. Children get palm branches; have a parade and shout, “Hosanna.” 4. Some people fast2 on that day. 5. There is a parade that dramatizes Jesus’ trial and walk to the cross. 6. There is a worship service of mourning. 7. There is a service of celebration. A. Palm Sunday – Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem B. Good Friday –the Crucifixion C. Easter Sunday – the Resurrection (Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21st.) Do you have any Easter traditions in your first country? Do you have any Easter traditions that you will do with your family? Symbols of Easter: Christian Symbols Non-Christian Symbols - empty cross - crown of thorns - empty tomb - lamb with a cross Why are these symbols used at Easter? Have you seen any of them this week? - rabbits - chicks - coloured eggs - lilies and other spring flowers - chocolate eggs, bunnies and chicks What is the significance of these symbols? Is there a word for Easter in your language? What does it mean? What are foods that people eat at Easter? Do you have any religious celebrations where you would eat certain foods or participate in specific traditions? Quote about Easter: “The symbolic language (picture) of the crucifixion is the death of the old paradigm (way of thinking); resurrection is a leap into a whole new way of thinking.” ~ Deepak Chopra 1events: important things that happen 2 fast: choosing not to eat for a period of time What happened on Good Friday? Jesus was betrayed by one of His own friends. Judas went to the religious leaders and agreed to hand Jesus over to them for thirty pieces of silver. Jesus was arrested and was tried in a mock trial. He was handed over to the Roman soldiers to be beaten and flogged with whips. A crown of long, sharp thorns was pushed down on his head. Jesus was forced to carry his own cross outside the city to Skull Hill. He was so weak after the beating that a man named Simon, who was from Cyrene, was pulled from the crowd and forced to carry Jesus' cross the rest of the way. Jesus was nailed to the cross. Two other criminals were crucified with Him, their crosses were on either side of Him. A sign above Jesus read "The King of the Jews." Before He died He prayed for those abusing Him, “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” What about you? 1. Have you ever been mistreated or unjustly judged? How did you feel? Are you able to forgive those who wronged you? 2. What is the meaning of suffering? Is it avoidable? Can good come from it? 3. So…what’s good about Good Friday? (Did you know? The name may be derived from 'God's Friday'.) What happened on Easter Day? Background: After Jesus died on the cross, two followers (Joseph and Nicodemus) took Jesus' body, wound it in linen grave clothes dipped in spices, and laid His body in a tomb. Then, as requested by the Jewish leaders, the tomb was sealed and guarded by Roman soldiers. Now, after three days, there was a great earthquake, and an angel of the Lord rolled back the stone from the tomb's door. In fright, the Roman soldiers trembled and then ran away. When followers of Jesus came to the tomb and saw the stone moved, they were confused. Suddenly, two men stood by them in shining garments, saying, “Why are you looking for the living among the dead? He is not here, He is risen. Remember how He told you before that He must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and the third day rise again?” “Then they remembered His words” – the words that He had told them months before.
