Your garage door is the main entry for your home. It is opened and closed multiple times a day. Even though your door is sturdy and built to last a long time, there is one way that is most successful at reducing the need for garage door repair, and that is regular maintenance. Investing in garage door maintenance is a great way to increase the lifespan of your garage doors. Here are some ways to avoid costly repair bills: Listen for any strange sounds or shakiness when your garage door is in use. Always check your batteries at the first sign on the door not working. We suggest you change them when the clocks move forward or behind. Are all your parts tight and rust free? Changing parts that are rusted or damaged prevents it from damaging other parts of your door. Regularly clean and care for your garage door. A clean door is a happy door!! Here are a few things that #NovaGarageDoors will do to maintain your garage doors: Replace weather stripping to keep your garage and home more energy-efficient. Check to make sure all the mechanics of the door are all functioning properly. Make any necessary adjustments to the garage door parts that may allow it to operate more smoothly. Test the springs to ensure they are the right strength for the weight of the door. Maintenance is key! If your garage door is professionally evaluated and maintained, it will last a lot longer and require fewer repairs.

Many jobs around your house can be done yourself. But the one job that should always be left to a garage door professional is any needed repairs to your garage door springs. Not only does this job require specialized knowledge, but it can be extremely dangerous for you to try to repair. Garage door springs are tightly wound and can harm you or people around you. Your garage door will have one of two different types of springs. You can determine what spring you have based on the location. An overhead spring is called a torsion spring system. The two springs located on either side of your garage door, is called an extension spring system. Spring issues may present themselves in the following ways: • Your garage door will not fully open. • You notice a gap in the spring overhead. • You hear a loud bang. • Your garage door falls suddenly and quickly while closing. • Jerky or crooked movement while opening or closing your garage door. • A cable hanging down on either side of your garage door. • You are unable to open the door at all. If you need assistance with your springs, feel free to give us a call! Office: 1-877-355-6682 Cellular: 1-226-922-1845 Email: info@novadoorgroup.com Website: www.novadoorgroup.com

Do you know what goes into making a garage door? Let’s take a look at how your garage door is made! 1. All metal doors start as either a sheet of steel or a sheet of aluminum. 2. It is rolled out, and the outer facing part is coated with a polyester paint (Polyester is a three-component paint that utilizes the resin + catalyst + accelerant. Thanks to its tight molecular structure, polyester has a solid content of +/- 96% which gives the product superior mechanical and chemical resistance) 3. The door is than passed through rollers that imprint different designs onto your door. 4. The metal is than brought to a machine that will cut the door to the proper width, than it folds over the edges into ½ cm joints that are used for attaching the back panel. 5. The panels than have metal plates put onto the back of them to reinforce the various components used to build the door (i.e. lift handles, hinges, brackets) 6. Before the other side of the panel is put on, they drill a hole, so it can have the insulation put in at a later time. 7. After drilling the hole, they slide another sheet of metal on top to form the panel. They close off the ends of the panel with pine, which prevents cold air and moisture from getting inside. 8. Before the insulation can be inserted, they attach an aluminum bar to the top and bottom of each panel. This will hold the panel steady during the injection process. After the insulation as expanded and dried, they will remove these bars. 9. The panel is than injected with a Polyurethane foam. This may be the lightest type of insulation, but it will create a solid core inside your garage door! 10. When the door is dry, they will adhere the rubber stripping (weather stripping) to the bottom of your door. This will help keep the outside elements from coming into your garage. 11. If you have chosen to have windows on your door, they will now remove the spacing for the windows. The window is inserted into the open space and secured with a PVC framing. This framing prevents the water and cold air from seeping into your door. 12. All the hardware and panels are carefully sealed and packed and sent to your garage door salesman!
