Please be advised that the library software is receiving an update over the May long weekend. As a result services such as Manitoba eLibraries will likely not function as expected over those dates. We would recommend downloading any materials prior to 11 pm Saturday May 20th. The upgrade is expected to be in place by 6am Tuesday May 23rd - and regular service should be restored at that time. Sorry for the inconvenience :(

New Book review - AFTER THE BLOOM Talk about being dumped down a rabbit hole! The main character, a young Japanese American girl, has been molested at home. At the beginning of W.W. II she is torn away from all that is familiar, and sent to an internment camp in the Arizona desert. Here many are made to suffer for the sins of a few. Her fragile psyche is then plagued by events she cannot comprehend or control. The author gives us an insightful look into the way outward turmoil and unrest can be a direct reflection of inner feelings. Peace loving, gentle people are incited to mob violence in the camp. Like Alice, our confused little heroine cannot distinguish between what is real and what is not. This emotional trauma will follow her through life. It leaves one wondering about the cruel capriciousness of war mentality. This well written, thought provoking book should be held up as a looking glass. What happened to many Japanese Americans and Canadians during W.W. II is now being mirrored in the way many people, such as Muslims, are being viewed today. Well done? Submitted by Janis Gibson.

Sask. government reverses budget cuts to libraries

"We've heard from people pretty clearly that they value the library in its present form. It's important for them not just to have the electronic capability, but they also want to have the physical space to go to."

Just a reminder that the Library will be having a used books/video sale as part of the townwide garage sales. Consider donating the ones gathering dust on your own shelves! Or change them up for some new ones at the cost of $5/bag
