Our own National Champions This post is dedicated to the staff that made our Festival happen in 2018. When asked whether an event this size can be done the first answer is always with the right staff. We have always had good people working our Festival but this year in which we had a record breaking 156 teams registered the task was even larger. The people who came on board not only loved the game of dodgeball but also had a desire to make the festival our best ever. Thanks to Brian who co-founded this event and handles logistics, website, schedules, scoring, design and risk management. Brian's work is all over the festival from swag designs to the playing schedule and smart phone presentation. Thanks to Greg Neethling who ran a group of four pad managers keeping games and referees in 16 courts and keeping us ahead of schedule and only 9 seconds off after the round robins. Greg led construction of the courts and stayed late Sunday making sure everything was packed and ready for pick up Monday. Thanks to Julie Charette who brought spirit to our special events , fluent in both languages she brought a creative organized and fun touch to every event from registration to Opening Ceremonies, from the BBQ to all the prize draws. Julie also led the facility design team which decorated our Festival, kept spirits high and always had her events ready to go on time. Thanks to Kelly Tucker our services manager. Kelly organized and ran swag as well as the staff room and both bars. Six months pregnant and worked like crazy Kelly organized and kept our services running great all weekend, she was such a huge help with those day to day operations at the festival. Thanks to Katie Wilson our social media and all around make any part of the festival better leader. Katie helped organize the facility design, run registration , handle all social media, medal ceremonies and a bunch of other things. Katie is always smiling is a hard worker, takes pride in every task and takes every job as important as the last. Thanks to Glen Kurti for organizing and leading the officials on the courts. This is a large operation and Glen did a great job or keeping our games going. Always easy to work with Glen calmly gets it done with class. Thanks to Bradley Laughlin, Matt Harris, Kasey Hellawell, and Annmarie Hreczuch who ran our pads of play and did an incredible job of implementing the game plan keeping us on time all the time. Even when faced with 35 minutes in overtimes Sunday morning the crew got us back on time by 3:00pm and finished 13 minutes ahead of schedule. This group worked through bad blisters, sore muscles and the physical side of building and tearing down cages. It is a hard job and their efforts were special. Thanks to Cassidy Bessette, Tammy Latreille, Ashley Santerre, Alison Fung, Marshall MacMillan who handled a variety of duties from bar tending to food, security to registration to medal ceremonies to facility design to scoring. Always on their jobs and always giving extra I cannot say enough about our full time staff that worked this Festival. Each one of these people cared so much about each part of the festival and they were so dedicated to making it successful. Amazing each and everyone one. Thanks to Julie Neethling, Bonnie Humber, Mathew MacCalum, Marc Corbeil, Brad Cater, Dean Laflèche Adam MacDonald, Alisha Hudon. All these people did shifts during our tournament and each one made a fantastic additions to every job they did. Dean led our fence and construction crews Thursday and Friday and then officiated full time during the tournament. Brad and Marc both played and though tired worked Sunday night until we were all packed up. This team worked through injuries, long hours, and all the fun of becoming a true team. They helped each other, stayed positive, followed the game plan when things went wrong, corrected mistakes so quickly they become unnoticeable and above all cared for the people they were there to serve. I cannot say enough about this group of people. Thank you to each one of you for your tireless work, your belief in the project and your friendship and caring.

Thanks to everyone who attended our Festival 2018. A tired crew packed up the last cages at 9:00pm Sunday night, but everyone also had the same feeling wow, look what just happened here. Over 700 matches were played and we finished Sunday 13 minutes ahead of schedule. We had barbecues, a Mega Bash, ran several contests, crowned 10 National Champions, served over 700 dodgeball players on 152 teams. There were formal medal ceremonies, medical on site, tons of food and drinks, plenty of laughs, sweat and agony. It was a huge tournament and we sincerely hope you the players had a blast. We thank you the players for attending the festival. You are why we do it. The competition was so intense and yet there is a sense of community and support that is not found on most playing surfaces. Our instances of dispute were minor this year. We had only one official protest and it happened before the festival. You played hard and fairly and gave everything you had to the games you played. We love the dodgeball community and it is a pleasure hosting the festival each May. A great example of of this community happened when four cases of our playoff balls went missing. Within minutes Marc Cizravi had four cases being delivered by Jason Merglers' mom. How cool is that? Beth Lascano had another two cases ready for Sunday if we needed them. That's our community at work. Thanks to the officials who in my opinion were our best yet. They were easy to work with and tried for consistency across the board in a sport that often is not consistent. Their hard work and ability is what allows us to play soooooo many games with very small amount of complaints. Thanks to our corporate partners. Rogers TV, Red Bull, Labatts, M@M, Subway, Dominos, and Sunbelt Rentals. Each one of these partners are such good people to work with and they genuinely are awesome at the festival. Thanks to my staff. I will write a longer message on these people later because their performance was also incredible. The hours dedication and desire to deliver this festival was truly remarkable. I am so lucky to have this team of people behind us this weekend. Thanks to Brian and Tammy for the fantastic job on scoring and having our scores posted literally within 20 minutes of a team playing. That's 16 courts every 30 minutes and the scores were up to date constantly. Thanks to the captains for organizing the teams and doing the captain jobs like rosters, fees and registration. Thanks to those who challenge our rules, schedules or performance because though it can be heated at the moment , disagreement is what pushes us to be better every year. Thanks to those who tell our staff thanks because that means a lot when they are trying to do their jobs and they are tired and sore. Finally I hope everyone has a great spring and summer. We always want to improve so please send us emails of anything we can do better. We hope you enjoyed Barrie 2018 and I congratulate all our medal winners and teams. We hope you will let others know about our Festival as we continue to grow helping to build this great sport and community. Thanks to everyone it was our pleasure to have you as part of the National Dodgeball Festival. See you in Barrie 2019.

Wow Day two is done and playoffs have begun. I want to thank my amazing staff. After over 600 round robin games we finished 9 seconds off schedule. That is correct 9 seconds. Every one of these people were superstars off the court today and I am so proud of this team. We wish all the teams who were eliminated a safe trip home and a blast tonight. Round 2 starts tomorrow. Thanks Pro Sports staff you made me very proud today.
