Synergy Intentional Dance Experience is an all night drug & alcohol free event that invites individuals to step into the realm of collaborative co-creation Synergy: Intentional Dance Experience was birthed in 2009 in Austin, Texas - USA by Lydia Hikari Marolda and her soul brother, Justin Manocchia. This was a conversation they were having for years, of their desire to collaborate on a conscious dance and music project.
Lydia shares her story with us below...
Growing up in the rave and psy trance scene of NYC and surrounding areas, I then moved to Japan for 4 years and continued my exploration of the doof scene, undergoing many deep core shifts and personal evolutions during these times.
What began in my late teens and early 20's as a wild ride through the realms of electronic soundscapes, testing my physical and mental limits by dancing for days...eventually became opportunities for Divine Moments of Truth through the experience of Psychedelic awakenings and realizing myself to be an embodied spirit on a healing journey of infinite proportions; in other words, the music became the tool that would ultimately reveal my wounds and dance became the medicine that could heal me.
From then on, I was on a personal mission to utilize the dance floor as my " training ground," the space where I would face and sometimes battle personal demons, the space I would commune with the Divine and listen to the messages that would guide me further along on my journey.
In 2005 when I first moved to Austin, I took my first 5 rhythms class and I was hooked! I was so inspired and in awe that someone (Gabrielle Roth) had put so much of what I was doing and feeling through dance-into a language, that could be taught, shared and universally applied! Yes! From then on I spent all my spare time and dollars traveling the country and the world to study with teachers who were helping me to go deeper into the dance and ultimately into My Self.
As one could imagine, after discovering that there were others out there doing similar work through conscious dance, doofs, clubs and seedy bars with lots of alcohol and drugs just wasn't fulfilling me, anymore. However, I still wanted to dance all night long, in reverence to deep bass, psychedelic synths, the thump thump and whomp whomp Yumminess of all the amazing producers and dj’s I loved. I also wanted to do this with other conscious folks in my community, who felt the same.
During these revelatory times, I had a mentor, my urban Shaman and touchstone- Gerry Starnes -who I met with regularly, to assist and advise me on my path. I would complain to him sometimes of what I was not finding in the electronic dance scene I was still a part of and how I wanted a little more from the conscious dance community , as well. I wanted the same bad-ass music that I would listen to at a festival or club on high quality speakers, I also wanted ritual, reverence, high vibrational super foods to nourish my body, and people I could connect deeply to through dance, art, and enlightening conversations.

One of the questions we aim to answer is: How can we take what we learn on the dance floor and allow it to be fuel for leading an awesome life...AND how can we take what we experience in life and fully express it on the dance floor?

Holy Wow Melbourne...What an epic evening we co-created and shared last night! A true affirmation of what is possible when we align our hearts and bodies with the sacred frequencies of the music that MOVES us! What a treat to have so many of my favorite artists in one place...grooving to the pulse of life with all my favorite people! Every time I looked around- all I saw were smiles and more smiles-EVERYWHERE! The artists were so grateful to have been received with so much love, respect and DANCE!
